We loved spending time with students from the Ithaca College New York #Film and #Television Student Alliance during their trip to New York City this week. Macy Brandon and Meaghan Batte chatted all about what happens inside the agency, on set, and the production ins and outs of our content and creator studio. The next wave of makers is coming and we're here for it!

By supporting arts programs for youth, we can help foster a new generation of creative and confident individuals who are better equipped to face the challenges of the future. Boomer Grace, Technical Arts Instructor at Paso Robles Youth Arts Center, is grateful for Must!'s support of their video production program, which includes industry-standard software, computers, technical equipment, and more. "I can offer students a real-world experience in filmmaking. And that experience extends beyond producing a film. It teaches self-expression, discipline, and organization skills for life. Our budding filmmakers learn that the movie is a meta-project. It’s a compilation of many different complex projects that make one complicated whole. As an example, they come to understand that one draft is not enough; perhaps 25 drafts will be enough to compete against those who will win a prize. Successful adults discover these lessons over time. What if students were able to create such a project that would make them more responsible and understand that as we grow up, hard work is rewarded? A movie is just that! And Youth Arts is making it happen." #ArtsForAll #YouthEmpowerment #InvestInKids #InspireCreativity #NonProfitImpact

"Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesize new things." -Steve Jobs As educators, parents and caregivers our mission should be creating experiences for our students and children. At The Academy we strategically curate our schedule to expose our learners to art, music, culture and sports to help them connect the dots and achieve academic success and finding PURPOSE. Check out the film below one of our amazing learners created in our Young Directors Workshop. The learners created the sets, clay creatures, storyline, script and voice overs in their stop motion films:

Some people take things like comic books and fantasy movies very seriously. It may seem like they take these things too seriously, when you consider the audience these works are aimed at. But on an unconcious level, they speak to a mythic structure that is a more accurate representation of the human relationship with reality than what more and more people are finding is the case with t.v. and movies aimed at people of their age. So much entertainment these days is very conscience of a very deliberate agenda, and it makes a lot of tweaks to come across as very progressive and on point with cultural hegemony. But people are tuning this stuff out more and more because it just doesn't seem believable, in terms of how events play out and in terms of the logic attributed to the outcomes within it. Children intuitively understand the inherent truth in the heroic structure, and in the absence of mainstream content that speaks to adults like adults, a lot of intelligent adults simply choose to immerse themselves in these unconcious worlds of mythic structure, as ways to understand the very difficult times we live in and their place with them.

The semester isn’t officially finished until the numbers are in. Now I can focus my attention on the summer work projects until fall semester starts in August. At that point, you may have noticed I start my last class and my dissertation. The topic is a case study of the roll-out of Next Gen TV / ATSC 3 in the Columbus Market.

How I see power plays in different spheres of our lives. 2024.5.20 We have already been involved in many power plays in our company that we may not have noticed. When we try to acquire a better rank during an annual review, we are fighting for the power of raising; when we try to demonstrate strong leadership abilities, we are fighting for the power of promotion opportunities. When we try to sell solutions to the clients, we are fighting for the power of controlling the limited budget from the demand side. All these tasks are power plays, and don’t see them as negative or dark. Because the resources of a company are limited and the budget of human resources is, too. The process of power plays lets the organizers know how to distribute sources correctly and appropriately. If you want to grab more, you should learn how to play the power plays game. Also, if you are not interested in these power plays, you should put down your concerns and let others gain their chance to fight for their rights. Yes, I want to participate in any kind of power play whether I'm in a company or as a citizen. Perhaps, I should start to play it early so I can avoid something unnecessary in my career. I actually hope I can learn this concept when I was a student and maybe I will teach my kids when they are still young. The most important thing is if you take something seriously, don’t just complain and try to gain the power of decisions. How to understand power and realize some approaches about fighting for the right is crucial in a democratic society and in a free country.
