🗣️ How To Nail Your Interview (Part One) 🗣️ Congratulations on securing the interview—excellent work! Now, onto the next challenge: the interview itself. One question I consistently ask in interviews, and I'm sure many other hiring managers do too, is: "Tell me about yourself and your background." You might wonder, why ask when they've already reviewed your resume? The answer lies in assessing your communication skills, which are crucial in any role. Expect some variation of this question in your interviews and prepare a concise response, ideally around 2-3 minutes. Focus on highlighting your professional experiences, specific achievements, and growth. While education is relevant, keep it brief, perhaps just a sentence or two. Avoid the temptation to recite your resume verbatim—as this wastes valuable interview time. Trust that if the hiring manager wants more detail on anything, they'll ask. Your answer to this question sets the tone for the rest of the interview. Keep it succinct, emphasize the highlights of your resume, and aim to hear the next question of the interview within the first 5 minutes. Questions about interviews? Do you agree or disagree with the points above? Let me know—I'm eager to hear your thoughts! Opinions are my own. Take what resonates, leave what doesn't. — Terence — #interview #hiring #advice

Congratulations, you got an interview! As my holiday gift, please accept these tips I send to my interviewing candidates. These are drawn from personal and professional experience with interviews. I hope they help! 😊 1. The first question in any interview is something along the lines of "Tell me about yourself." Whenever I interview, I script a response beforehand that outlines my strengths and how my experience pertains to the role. This is your elevator pitch! 2. Next, be sure to look over the job description and be able to speak to any bullet points. The manager has already outlined in the job description what is needed to be successful in the role. 3. In front of friends, family, or even your dog/cat/goldfish, go over behavioral interview questions. Typical questions can be found online, and practicing will ensure you feel comfortable and confident in your interview. 4. Dress professionally and appropriately for the interview format. If it is a video call make sure you have a good internet connection, a quiet and tidy background, and a clear camera and microphone. Be punctual, polite, and confident. Smile – you got this! Sincerely, Shelby #interviewtips #interviews #interviewprep

Sr. Technical Recruiter | Recruit security-cleared engineers & scientists | Enthusiastic people-person with a mutant curiosity gene
As I was recruiting for a role, candidates were screened, and resumes were forwarded to the hiring manager for review. I guessed, in my mind, the "one" that would be selected for the job. Interviews were scheduled with a few selected candidates; I participated in the interviews. The person I thought would get the job did not land the offer. Why? That candidate didn't prepare well for the interview and made some significant mistakes (late to interview, spoke for ~15 minutes answering the initial interview question, struggled to manage their thoughts during the interview). When you're preparing for an interview, do EVERYTHING you can to stand out from the crowd! Do your research, practice answering interview questions aloud, know the time/date/place of your interview. You may be thinking, "That's easy stuff, Nicole!" Maybe, but I've seen experienced professionals struggle with nerves, self-doubt, and lack of preparedness during interviews. Practice, prepare, and ponder how YOU may best shine in your next interview! #interviewprep #interviewingtips #interviewing #interview

You’ve been waiting for that interview request but FINALLY, you have a prescreen booked! 🎉 Your inclination is to clear your schedule so that you can prepare and make sure you’re ready for whatever they throw at you. The problem with that? You run the risk of going overboard: 🔄 Overthinking 🔍 Overanalyzing 📚 Overpreparing This creates a pressure cooker where you become desperate for this interview to be IT. The job that you’re 100% going to get. Feeling like that rarely results in a great interview. Usually, it results in you feeling like you bombed it and were a mess. Instead, I want you to start preparing for an interview as soon as you start writing your resume (it’s actually a great starting point!) so that you’re just reviewing your interview prep instead of living it. Then when you get that interview request, I want you to actually go do this… …watch my YouTube on the most important thing you must do. 🎥 DM: Interview Prep and I’ll send the link. 💬 #JobSearch #InterviewTips #CareerAdvice #JobHunt #InterviewPreparation #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerSuccess
