Did I read this post correctly?!? And Biden and the Democrats are supporting this??? It is painfully obvious that the trans community has become a target for nearly everyone. And there are definitely double standards that exist within our society. There are issues related to children's access to certain TV shows, gun accessibility, rising mass shootings, and #racism, and much more…all while our #government targets online #transgender content. Shows like "The Bachelor" and "Teen Mom" have captivated audiences for years. These programs have undeniably shaped the way some younger generations perceive love, relationships, and parenthood. I would argue that the scripted drama, sensationalism, and often unrealistic portrayals of these topics can negatively impact the impressionable minds of children under 18. One of the most pressing concerns in the U.S. is the accessibility of firearms, including semi-automatic weapons, in households with children. The tragic frequency of #MassShootings in the country is a grim reminder of the potential consequences of the easy access to lethal weapons. The impact of gun violence on young minds cannot be underestimated, as it fosters an environment of #fear and insecurity. Racism remains a deeply ingrained issue in American #society. The media plays a pivotal role in shaping societal attitudes, and unfortunately, it sometimes perpetuates #stereotypes and #prejudices. Children are not immune to these influences, which can contribute to the perpetuation of racism. In the midst of these pressing concerns, it is ridiculous that our government has chosen to target online transgender content. This decision reflects a double standard that is both unjust and counterproductive. Targeting such content {which does not harm anyone) not only curtails the free expression and rights of trans people but also diverts attention from the more pressing issues our society faces. We need to be focusing on gun violence, the influence of some TV shows on young minds, and the increase in racism, #xenophobia, #transphobia, and #homophobia. Instead of focusing on content that supports the trans community, our government should prioritize initiatives that foster #inclusivity, #education, and safety. Our government and our society must prioritize tackling gun violence, TV's impact on children, and racism rather than stifling the voices of #marginalized communities. The “Kids Online Safety Act”? Really? What are you protecting them from? Online content didn’t make me transgender. My parents didn’t make me trans. TV didn’t make me trans. It’s who I am. And there is nothing wrong with me. There is nothing wrong or evil or sick about trans people. Get it through your heads. You wanna protect the children in this country? Start with gun safety and stricter gun laws. It’s that simple.
A bipartisan bill is moving through congress known as the “Kids Online Safety Act.” It has support of Biden and Democrats. But advocates fear it could target trans content online. Now, a bill sponsor confirms that it will. Subscribe to support my work. https://lnkd.in/ex5jqNhj #trans #transgender #transrights #lgbt #lgbtq #lgbtqia #dei #deib
