What’s more secure? Early stage start up or public company? For years the notion was always that public companies were a much safer bet than startups but with the recent layoffs from the big brands now I’m not so sure. Startup: Pros - “lean team” everyone onboard is essential, if they have runway you are set! Cons - Runway! Most startups still fail Public: Pros - less likely to run out of money Cons - you could receive the dreaded layoff email I feel like perception has shifted on this topic over the past few years. What are your thoughts? #hiring #bioinformatics

Some thoughts around startup hiring based off what I've seen & learned at Moonhub 🚀 🚀 Building a startup isn't just about products and profits—it's about people and culture. 💡 Hiring the right individuals isn't just a checkbox; it's the cornerstone of shaping the soul of your company. 🔍 Find those who not only excel in their roles but also resonate with your values and vision. 🌱 Cultivate a culture where every team member is not just an employee, but a steward of your startup's journey. #StartupCulture #HiringRight #PeopleFirst 🌟

1 month since the last consultation about team management for Gamedev startup. Great results: - The hiring process became easier because now founders know the motivation to work with them and can use it in vacancy texts - 1:1 meetings became an essential part of better understanding what's going on - Engagement has increased thanks to the all-hands meeting where the founder tells about strategy, money and so on Stay tuned, we are working :) #teammanagement #hiring #teamengagement #startup

Hiring for skills is easy. Hiring someone who makes your whole team think " Yes, THIS is our person"...now THAT'S the challenge. 🚀 Finding those who truly 'get' your vibe protects your team's whole mood. We're not talking just skills here. Look for these signs: Tip 1: Mission Match-Up: Test if they connect with your WHY, not just the WHAT they'll do. Ask how this role helps achieve the bigger vision. Tip 2: Problem-Solving Mindset: Give a small, real challenge your team solved. Do they light up, or immediately point out obstacles? Weirdest way you've described your startup vibe to a potential hire? 👇 #startups #hiring #culturematters #teambuilding #TeamSpirit #DreamTeam #CultureFit #VisionAlignment #SkillvsFit #FindingTheOne #TeamVibes #CompanyCulture #HiringWisdom #MissionAlignment #ProblemSolvers #StartupLife #TalentSearch #CompanyValues #TeamSynergy

Both skills and attitude play a crucial role in hiring for your startup. While skills are vital in the early stages to get your startup off the ground, attitude becomes increasingly significant as you scale and grow. What is your hiring strategy for your startup/MSME? This one decision in early days could decide the future of the company..... REPOST/COMMENT with your thoughts.......Skin in the Game Consulting

My question of the week is about the nuances of the first product hire. Product colleagues, what do you think makes this role so different than other product roles? Are different skills required to be successful? Why is this role one that sees so much turnover? I have lots of thoughts to share but first, I'd love to hear from you all. #productmanagement #productmanagers #product #tech #startups #founders #recruiting

An early-age startup founder rejected a candidate because he arrived half an hour early and was given the reason that he is not punctual. Can you believe it? It's not uncommon for early-stage founders to make hiring decisions based on unconventional or sometimes overly strict criteria, especially when they're concerned about finding the right team to drive their vision forward. This is precisely why having an experienced hiring expert or recruiter on board can be a game-changer for startups. P.S- Don’t think that you don’t need hiring guidance from an expert if you don’t want to miss out on exceptional talent while building your winning team. The most crucial quality of an entrepreneur is getting people super excited about a project. Back when I was looking for really early-stage startups (or when I was scouting for projects at a VC fund), there's one major thing every entrepreneur should excel at, in my opinion: getting people really hyped about a project. When I crossed paths with Lucas at the beginning of Hyperline: ❌ No, I wasn't an expert in billing. ❌ No, I didn't suddenly start loving the billing issues of SaaS businesses. ✅ But what did happen was that I got super into the human adventure and the project that was presented to me. And that's a sign that Lucas did a great job as a founder that day! This has been one of the biggest things I've learned since joining Hyperline. I used to underestimate the importance of company culture. I used to think it was a « bullshit topic », and that it was only important when you had a big team of 150 people. Not earlier than that. Happy to realize that I was so wrong 🙅🏻♀️ In just a few months, we built a strong and unique #culture that we're proud of and that gets us motivated every morning. Is it easy to build a strong culture when you're only a team of 8? According to what I've heard from early employees (and friends) in other projects, not really... Many people really believe in their project and that it will succeed, but they leave the adventure (or want to leave) due to cultural reasons. Being good at getting people excited about a project means keeping your first team members and making the new ones really want to join the adventure. Good news, Hyperline is #hiring. When should a startup hire their first product manager? Interesting data from Lenny Rachitsky who compiled a list of when these 30 companies hired their first PM. My take: startups shouldn't hire PMs (at least for the first few years) because *founders* should be the first product managers. I know there's no one-size-fits all answer, but I believe that founders need to be on the frontlines of building their products — especially during the early stages. I've made the mistake of hiring PMs too early and it's never worked out. But I'm curious to hear others' thoughts on this. #PMF #ProductManager #Startup
