Pharmacies nationwide are pushing boundaries to offer more patient care. One example is Raj Chhadua & team at ReNue Rx in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. ReNue started billing services to insurers last year. Many claims were adjudicated, but most of the reimbursements were shifted to "patient responsibility." ReNue‘s pharmacists lacked enrollment & credentialing within payer-provider networks. So, what did ReNue do? They got enrolled & credentialed, and now, insurers are paying more dollars on more claims. It never fails. It's very unfortunate when the most caring providers get sucked into the circus of healthcare challenges. It's even more unfortunate because these good providers are the few that don't see their patients as another number or measure. ✨️They genuinely care✨️ ----------- One of my wonderful providers reached out for insights. He'd written a prescription for a long-acting insulin (Lantus) on behalf of his older adult patient. Unkown to him, patient was unable to get the insulin from the pharmacy. Instead, patient started using a family member's insulin. - problem was that the family member's insulin is a different type of insulin, a rapid-acting insulin. So the hypoglycemic episodes began! Patient, when he was able to reach an actual human at the pharmacy, was told that the problem was on how the prescription was written. He still couldn't comprehend the exact issue with the prescription to fully convey the message Provider, on the other hand, couldn't get a human on the phone in the little time he had to resolve the issue. 🎯 Well, my friends, The solution was as simple as getting my provider to become aware of the prescribing best practices, which I shared, with some clinical pearls - my jam! (The 🔗 is in the comment...exit out of that circus and go save your sanity too!😇) ----- See, Not caring affects trust Not caring affects clinic's performance Not caring ruins the provider-patient relationship Caring is satisfying and rewarding But it can't be done alone especially under time constraints otherwise, it's a straight ticket to burnout! #PatientCare ##TeamBasedCare #Community #Pharmacy #Consultant #PharmD #MD #PA #NP #PatientAdvocate
