I'm excited to share that I've started a new position as the VP of Engineering, Fintech at Toast (www.toasttab.com)! As I've shared this change with friends the top question is, "Why did you choose to work for Toast?" There are a few reasons, but Toast is exactly the type of company I was looking for. I hope anyone who has worked with me knows that I obsess about the customer. Not only is that what I believe leads to sustained business success, but it is also where I find fulfillment. It is just energizing when you talk to someone who uses the solution you built and they love it. If you have worked in the payments industry and spent time with customers you likely experienced times when they were grateful for the payments solution, but there are a bunch more problems beyond payments that they need help with - from inventory management to taking orders. But there are so many different business segments that you really need to focus to build out meaningful solutions to their problems. Toast is focused on the restaurant industry. The depth of our customer focus is evident in the announcement in the last earnings call that Toast launched Toast for quick service restaurants and Toast for hotel restaurants expanding on the other "Built for You" (https://lnkd.in/daYCG8eq) solutions. Toast makes kitchen display systems, self-service order kiosks, and digital menus with take out... and of course the POS. Restaurants who use Toast are proven more successful than the industry averages - which says a lot about how we're solving customer problems. I also wanted to work at an earlier stage, fast growing company. Working in payments and specifically on PayPal Here, I've been wired to notice what POS is used in store. I actually remember reading about Toast in the earliest days when they created some buzz around their demo at a fintech conference. I've seen them in more and more restaurants that I frequent. So when we connected about this position I was thrilled. Toast is growing revenue at +90% and gaining in the market. The opportunity for growth is over 100x where Toast is today. Yet the company is currently small enough to execute quickly and to have a tight-knit team. I have a lot to say about a company where I just started! But I suspect I might have just found my dream job. And being in a high-growth company, we're #hiring! Toast headquarters is in Boston with offices in Dublin (Ireland), Chicago, San Francisco, Omaha, and soon in Bengaluru. But Toast is fully remote in the US and I'm still working in Utah.
