I’m fired up to join Steve Herrod (original CTO at VMware, phenomenal eng leader, investor and human), as Co-founder / CEO of Lanai to fill that gap. Accelerated by foundational work and funding by Steve and the Juxtapose team, with input from fantastic CIOs and CISOs over the last year (you know who you are!), as well as additional investment / thought leadership from Bilal Zuberi / Lux Capital, we are building a critical and currently missing Gen AI system of record for enterprise companies that collectively employ a huge portion of employees worldwide. I am optimistic about AI technology and believe it will help our society embrace lifelong learning, creating new industries and jobs that have never existed before. As a brand builder and content creator, should I be worried that ChatGPT is replacing me? I think not. The advent of AI pushes us humans to acquire new skills and hone our existing abilities so we can work alongside these evolving technologies in a collaborative fashion. Strategies for Hiring Tech Talent in Gen AI ---------------------------------------------- I can see one thing very clearly: the Gen AI world is changing quickly, and companies need to do more than just "keep up" to stay ahead of the competition. Business leaders have to build strategies and structures to prepare their organizations for a future driven by Gen AI. For example, in any new consumer tech product discussions, Gen AI technology is almost always brought up, and it's often taken very seriously. In the next few months and years, the need for experts in Gen AI will skyrocket, especially people who can build and engineer Gen AI tools. The quickest and simplest approach for companies, particularly small and medium-sized ones, to find essential tech talent in a competitive market is for business leaders to initially determine the types of Gen AI applications they require. After learning this, they can use this knowledge to find the specific tech skills and tools needed in the near future and establish strategies to hire and retain these professionals for the long haul. Now is the time to act. By investing in Gen AI, understanding its potential, and strategically preparing for the Gen AI revolution, businesses can not only thrive, but also pioneer innovation and set the standard for success in an ever-changing technological landscape.

Up 48% YTD, Palantir's training camps are luring talent, while Nvidia's AI prowess attracts sovereign state shoppers. Meanwhile, AI chatbots are stepping up as Gen Z's new mental health allies. In the boardrooms, Stability AI's CEO exits stage left, pursuing AI's decentralized future. While over in Anguilla, this Caribbean speck is cashing in on the AI gold rush. It's a world where AI secretaries manage our emails and where the next big AI career could be just a video away. With #AI valuations at sky-high levels, it's not surprising that the war for AI talent is on, as reported in The Wall Street Journal. I predict a small amount of these tech companies chasing after AI developers and AI salespeople will make a quick buck, and an even smaller amount will make a legitimately market-shattering product. (News flash: If you hope to hire your way to becoming the next NVIDIA or OpenAI, you're going to have a bad time). The reality is that for a large majority of companies, hiring AI talent will matter less than AI upskilling. As businesses add AI platforms to their tech stack, or see their current systems upgraded with AI capabilities, it'll be on current employees to learn how to best take advantage of them--even if they're not sure what the immediate benefit is. As my colleague Meghan Bazaman discovered last year, 68% of marketers believe that learning AI technology is essential to their career development, despite their belief that the hype surrounding AI tools or technology is overblown (I'll 🔗 her awesome research in the comments, definitely check it out). Whether employees are pursuing this upskilling on their own, or through a formal training program at work, it's on #HR to develop official AI policies and set up guard rails for their use to protect sensitive information, mitigate bias, and avoid communicating bad information.

AI Is Starting to Threaten White-Collar Jobs. Few Industries Are Immune. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping our professional landscape, signaling a pivotal shift from manual to cognitive automation, this is per a recent article in the The Wall Street Journal. Recent layoffs at tech giants like Google and Meta and across industries underscore a trend where AI, particularly generative AI, is not just optimizing but transforming white-collar roles, including managerial positions. This evolution suggests AI's role in enhancing productivity and creativity in knowledge work, challenging us to reimagine the future of work. Businesses must pivot towards embracing AI's potential, focusing on strategic upskilling and innovation to thrive in this new era. The conversation around AI is not about job displacement but about how we leverage technology to augment human capabilities, making work more meaningful and efficient. I recently heard David Nelems say that it is more likely that someone with AI knowledge will replace your job than AI itself. I believe he is right.
