What a monumental few months for G2 Esports. They started the week with their merger with Version1 giving the organization its entry into Call of Duty in North America. They just announced their entry into DOTA 2 with a partnership with Chinese stalwarts Invictus Gaming. This all is coming off the heels of them acquiring the VCT Ascension slot from The Guard. The interesting takeaway from all these moves is that G2 is entering all of these new ecosystems, but they aren't starting from scratch. They are taking over rosters or partnering with knowledgeable, reputable organizations that already compete at G2's standard. This appears to be their playbook on entering new competitive niches without having to ramp up infrastructure every time.
