This book was a refreshing read for me and is perfect for anyone curious about UX design. --- I was struck by a line in the book where the young girl reminds herself, "I'm talking to an expert who lives and breathes design." This resonated with me deeply, as it reflects how I live my life. How do I achieve this? ↳ By asking questions ↳ Being curious ↳ Always maintaining a young and evolving mindset ↳ Never fall in love with your design, as it can be a death trap. 📖 I have just finished reading "Hooked" by Nir Eyal. The book is based on the Hooked model proposed by Nir, which is divided into four sections: Trigger, Action, Variable Reward, and Investment. I have explored some books on habits for self-improvement. But as an aspiring UX designer, delving into a book that explains how to build habit-forming products has opened new perspectives for me to consider in the products I am currently working on and will be developing in the future. 👱♂️ The author emphasizes the importance of solving the right problem that appeals to users' emotional and functional needs, a principle well-known to product designers. However, we often forget the underlying reasons. For that author highlights the "5 Whys" concept, encouraging a deeper understanding of human behaviour. 🧠 The author also delves into various psychological principles that influence human behaviour and are employed by successful product companies. Numerous case studies are provided to illustrate the successes and failures of different products. These case studies aid readers in comprehending the impact of these principles on human behaviour. 👀 The book continually stresses the importance of ensuring that a product adds value for users. In its later sections, the author delves into the critical topic of ethical manipulation. If you were to Google the best book to learn UX, this would be the only recommendation you'd need. Now, did I understand every single aspect of this book? Honestly, no. I know I’m a true research nerd when I attribute normal things to user research methodology. ✈️ I’m at the airport right now and watched a man aggressively shake his head back and forth in frustration while navigating through his Audible App. ✅ When he finally found his audiobook, nodded his head in satisfaction.
