I have spent the past 12 years sharing content on social media - starting on YouTube in 2011 and growing my audience to over 380K across platforms, have made 6 figures+ for the past 4 years, and have been able to quit my consulting job and pursue content creation full-time 🎥💡 If I were starting as a creator in 2024 - here is the advice I would follow and how I would do it: 🔍 1. Find what type of content you're going to create: It might sound simple, but be authentic; prioritize what makes sense to you. Identify your interests and unique voice - I promise, there are others interested in the same things as you! Whether you need to niche down or not is another question. The good news is, it is up to you. Whether you decide to niche down and make content exclusively one subject or not, make sure you create content pillars to create a unified brand. 📱 2. Which platforms will you focus on? I recommend starting with 1-2 platforms at first. Nowadays, Instagram is essential and is a great place for community - the other is up to you. Regardless of what you focus on, be consistent on those before you decide to add another platform to the mix and burn out. 📅 3. Strategize and plan for success: In order to be successful as a creator, you should treat content creation as a job. Using tools like Rella for consistent planning, repurposing, and tracking your revenue is essential for consistency and maximizing your reach. Don't go into creating content with no direction. Also, there is no algorithm "hack" that will boost views quickly if you are not focusing on consistent and engaging content. 💸 4. This leads us to monetization: Being a creator means there is no ceiling on your income. You can diversify your revenue streams: brand deals, affiliate marketing, community memberships, courses, etc. But, don't jump ahead to monetization before you build a loyal and engaged audience. All in all, you need to define your content pillars, choose your platforms, strategize, prioritize consistency, and let monetization follow your growing audience.
