News from Pathway — we are hiring! Looking to add another engineer to our team — a Middle Frontend or Fullstack (React / TS / Node). In short — we want to create the coolest platform for unmoderated user research, and we really need help: we're growing fast, have lots of ambitious plans, and we're running out of hands. Check the comments section for a link with all the details. I'd be super grateful if you could share this or send it to someone who might be interested! And feel free to drop any questions. #hiring #frontend #fullstack

"We need a Frontend Developer who has architecture experience" I'm hearing this more and more from hiring managers over the past 6 months. So I wanted to discuss why it is important for FE devs to have architecture experience: ✅ Comprehensive understanding of the entire software system ✅ Frontend Developers can better communicate with backend developers. Understand their requirements, and contribute to creating a cohesive, well-architected system. ✅ Frontend developers with experience in software architecture often have strong problem-solving skills allowing them to solve problems relating to design, scalability and integration. ✅ Can participate in discussions that span the entire development process. Including choosing libraries, frameworks, and design patterns that are compatible with the overall system. But overall it enhances your ability to contribute to the overall success of the project and promotes effective collaboration across different teams in the SDLC. Frontend Devs let me know what you think in the comments below ⬇️ #techhiring #softwarearchitecture #frontenddevelopers

Blazor | .NET MAUI | ASP.NET MVC | ASP.NET WebAPI | C# | SQL| JavaScript | Full Stack .NET Developer | Microsoft Certified C# Developer | Azure
I definitely believe there is something very important to this post. Some new developers spend a lot of time building their skills in the programming languages but ignore front end development (possibly because they may feel there’s not a lot of money in it). But the fact is you can do all the backend work that you want. If you have no meaningful way to display the results to the user, then what good is all of the work. That’s where the importance of learning the front end technologies is at and I’m so happy that I’m getting to spend some time back with the basics of web design and development. I feel this truly will make me a more well-rounded full stack developer.
If I ever start hiring for frontend developers, I would do this: I will never ask them about frameworks/libraries or Leetcode or anything advanced. I would simply grill them on 1 thing i.e. Vanilla Javascript. Nothing more. If one could answer my questions on DOM manipulation, Event bubbling, Prototypes, Functional programming, ES6 features, etc. I would be more than happy to hire them on my team. Why? Developers with a strong core can learn and adapt to everything without going back to the basics again and again. Not just me, many companies hire frontend developers like this. Good basics of Javascript is everything.

This is the tailwind vs css argument all over again. The most important thing is getting stuff done, "mastering the basics" is a long term process. Just learn enough basics to start tinkering and building projects; when you see an outcome, it will create a motivation loop. Abstractions are not bad, they get things done faster, if anyone disagrees, tell them they should be flipping the bits manually.
