On #IWD, let's remember not to bring the ladder up with you on your way to the top. Success is not achieved alone and another's success does not take anything away from your own (in fact it probably does the opposite). Change requires people seeing representation in the roles they seek to be in AND an ability to participate in day to day opportunities and new challenges. Tangible ways to do so include: extending invites to colleagues to attend calls or meetings or events, including a diverse array of people on file work (not just the pitch), and spending time learning about cultural and gender based differences that may lead to a different working style so you can conciously include more viewpoints at the table. I'm sure there are many more- what are your ways to lift everyone up with you? (pic is from a great day yesterday at DMZ's #WomenInnovationSummit. Big thanks to my colleagues Jamie Mandell, Sydney Kert, and Nicole Kapos for welcoming me to join!)
On March 7, Sydney Kert, Jamie Mandell, Morgan McDonald and Nicole Kapos attended the Women Innovation Summit. This one-day event dedicated to standout women in tech was hosted by leading Canadian startup incubator DMZ in recognition of International Women’s Day. https://lnkd.in/guK2Um6C Today we celebrate the amazing women lawyers, clients and industry leaders we are honoured to connect and collaborate with year-round. #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion https://lnkd.in/guK2Um6C

Supporting women is ingrained in our ethos. In fact, 65% of the businesses we support are led by women. With a female co-founder, we wholeheartedly celebrate and champion women and girls venturing into self employment. We have collaborated with techSPARK Swindon & Wiltshire, Business West and The Workshed on an upcoming event on March 21st, dedicated to celebrating the inspiring women in our area. The goal of this event is to empower those contemplating starting their own business to take the leap, and celebrate those who have. This years theme for #IWD is inclusion. We are gathering for an informal discussion with some remarkable Female Founders, focusing on supporting women and girls into leadership, entrepreneurialism, and inclusion. We will be discussing questions that are often easier to ignore, such as how to ensure our efforts aren't tokenistic, why representation matters, and why inspiring inclusion is so important. Your voice matters. We want the audience to be part of the conversation. Share your experiences, ask questions, and connect with fellow entrepreneurs during our sessions. Claim your spot: If you are interested in starting your own business, are a female founder, or you want to champion the great businesses in the area then secure your place by registering. https://lnkd.in/etjkebWj See you there! #FemaleEntrepreneurship #EmpowermentEvent #SwindonBusinesses #InternationalWomensDay #WiltshireBusiness The Workshed -Coworking, Events, Home For Creative/Digital Industries Lucy P. Day 32 of 32 celebrating inspiring women!! In today's final interview for International Women's Day, I'm joined by my dear friend and former colleague, Marilyn McDonald —a dynamic product leader and force to be reckoned with. We explore our journey of eschewing competition for collaboration, emphasizing the power of lifting other women as we rise. Our discussion covers the importance of inclusivity, joy in teamwork, and the role of trust in navigating financial discussions and complex negotiations. We share insights on advocating for one another, even in competitive job scenarios, and the creation of OVAL (Only Very Awesome Ladies) as a response to our dissatisfaction with traditional networking groups. Highlighting the impact of allies and sponsors, (with a special shout-out to Matt Swann for being a kickass ally), we underline their importance in ensuring women's voices are heard. Marilyn's advice resonates deeply, emphasizing authenticity and the understanding that being in the wrong space does not mean being the wrong person. Also...this little chat is the early hint at a new podcast we have in the works! :)

Our generation today boasts of a diverse array of phenomenal women breaking barriers and leaving their mark on the world, and their stories deserve to be heard. As we celebrate #womenhistorymonth , it's not just a time to revisit the past but a crucial opportunity to amplify the voices of the women shaping our present. Scientist are pioneering medical breakthroughs, entrepreneurs creating innovative solutions, artists challenging creative boundaries and activists fighting for social justice, female achievements in our generation is richly woven. Amplifying the voices of women is a collective responsibility, not just a one-month endeavor. Social media is democratizing the narrative, allowing women to speak directly to a global audience. By actively seeking out, speaking up and supporting each other, we can create a world where women's voices are not just heard but celebrated, valued, and empowered to shape a brighter future.
