#IMPORTANTNOTICE #SafariRallyKenya ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #SafariRallyKenya is back, and with it comes the need to coordinate air traffic in the area as more than 15 helicopters will be providing aerial coverage and logistics support. #KCAA has already released comprehensive Flight Information Service procedures. The protocols have been developed in close collaboration with #WRCSafariRally2024 organisers to ensure seamless air traffic flow to, within and out of the temporary restricted area for the duration of the competition. A team of air traffic control officers will also be on site coordinating movement and timely alerting of aircraft. Working with the Rescue Coordination Centre, #KCAA is also prepared to facilitate Medical Evacuation and address any potential aircraft distress scenarios. As the on-track action ramps up, we urge members of the public to observe safety protocol and maintain a safe distance from helicopters especially during take-off and landing procedures. #KCAACares

The airspace situation over Somalia has become increasingly precarious due to incidents involving unauthorized individuals penetrating cockpits and posing as air traffic control officers (ATCOs). These individuals issue conflicting instructions to pilots, posing serious risks of mid-air collisions. A recent alarming incident involved an Ethiopian Airlines A350-9 bound for Dubai and a Qatar Airways B787-9, raising significant concerns. Another concerning event occurred on 24th March 2024 at around 12:43 AM (9EAT) involving Ethiopian Airlines flight ETH690 and Emirates Airways Flight UAE722, resulting in conflicting instructions but fortunately avoiding a catastrophe. Somalia's airspace falls under the Mogadishu Flight Information Region (FIR), a new airspace transferred from Kenyan administration in January 2023 after 31 years. It was reclassified as Class A airspace from its previous designation as Class G uncontrolled airspace. However, given the current challenges, there is a risk of reverting to Class G airspace unless improvements are made, highlighting the critical importance of addressing these airspace safety issues promptly.

Congress is back in Washington, so join us in urging them to close a dangerous gap in aviation security. Cargo pilots fly the same routes, in the same airspace, and into the same airports as passenger airlines, and the all-cargo arena continues to be identified as a significant target and exposed to insider threat. But unlike passenger operations, these planes are not required to have secure flight deck doors. This puts non-flight crew individuals — who may be on a cargo flight for several reasons — within feet of the controls without any barrier. We need your help to advance our goal of “One Level of Safety and Security” for all airline operations. Please join this call to action and reach out to your members of Congress today to cosponsor H.R. 3909, the Cargo Flight Deck Security Act of 2023: https://lnkd.in/e__YSVWR #Safety #Security #Aviation #Pilots #NationalSecurity

⚠️ Warning: Airlines and the Middle-East Tensions. #Warning: The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (#EASA) has issued a cautionary advisory urging airlines to exercise vigilance when operating in Israeli and Iranian airspace amid escalating tensions between the two nations. With geopolitical #tensions on the rise, airlines are advised to carefully assess the risks associated with flying over these regions and to consider alternative routes where possible. The advisory underscores the importance of prioritizing the #safety and security of passengers and crew in light of the evolving situation. As #airlines navigate these complex dynamics, close coordination with aviation authorities and adherence to safety protocols are essential to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safe operation of #flights in the region. https://lnkd.in/gtB-XA2V

Runway incursions are one of the most persistent threats to aviation safety, and the risk of incursions is likely to increase as air traffic grows, unless robust, coordinated safety defenses are implemented, Flight Safety Foundation said today in releasing the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Incursions (GAPPRI). GAPPRI was developed by an international task force of 200 aviation professionals from 80 organizations around the world. The findings and recommendations in the report are based on an analysis of multiple global and regional datasets, combined with insights from real-world experience and operational expertise. ➡️ Download the GAPPRI Volume 1 – Recommendations today! ➡️ https://bit.ly/3NmGb4D #runwayincursions #aviationincident #aviationsafety #GAPPRI #FlightSafetyFoundation CANSO, International Air Transport Association (IATA), ACI World - Airports Council International, International Civil Aviation Organization, EUROCONTROL

An updated version of the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Incursions (GAPPRI), Volume I, was developed by an international team of experts with the main aim of further improving safety. Collaboration and prevention continue to be the best defense against runway incidents that involve the incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle, or person on the surface designated for the landing and take-off. We are waiting for GAPPRI Volume II - Guidance and Explanatory Materials (GEMs). #safety #safetyfirst #safetyculture #eurocontrol #fsf #easa #icao #aviation #aviationsafety #flying #runway #incursions #airlines #risk

Airport security: Safety: False GPS signals could put pilots to the test and the Aviation Industry at risk. In the world of aviation, a growing problem is associated with false GPS signals. These misleading signals are causing confusion in the navigation systems on board aircraft, making pilots' work even more difficult, particularly in conflict areas. In regions close to the conflict areas, as in Ukraine after the Russian invasion, the Eastern Mediterranean and the air corridor over Iraq, pilots and officials of the aeronautical industry have reported an increase in false GPS signals, apparently of military origin. These adulterated signals can lead aircraft to receive false coordinates, times and altitudes, resulting in false danger alerts and ultimately giving rise to unnecessary emergency maneuvers. These false GPS signals are therefore one of the causes of immediate confusion, but they can also affect the trajectory of the aircraft hours later, when it approaches the destination. This may result in modified trajectories or even in changes of destination, if it is impossible to land safely due to interference in navigation systems.
