Congratulations to BENSALEM, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- It's a three-peat for the Bensalem High School Marine Corps JROTC, which again earned the special recognition of 'Naval Honor School. The Headquarters Marine Corps gives the distinction and recognizes the top percentage of Marine Corps JROTC programs nationwide. Marine Corps veteran John Church, USMC(Ret.), is the Senior Marine Instructor for the program. Leadership Lessons from Col. Keep going Ranger candidates, this is only the beginning. When are you taking the next step? Pre Ranger Purpose: To train, assess, and select Ranger Candidates in order to send the most capable, qualified, and prepared Screaming Eagle Soldiers to the U.S. Army’s premier leadership school. Course Scope: This course covers the skills and concepts necessary to achieve success as a Ranger Student. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to complete an RPFT, 12-mile road march, CWSA, and Land Navigation. Training will cover individual Soldiers skills and Small Unit Tactics, including Ambushes, Reconnaissance operations, Formations and Movement techniques, and Troop Leading Procedures. At the conclusion of the course, Candidates will be better prepared to represent the Division at the U.S. Army Ranger school. #airassault #rltw #prerange

It's not every day that you rappel a total of 90 feet and cross a creek with just rope & a carabiner. 😉 But today was a day like no other! The Leadership Lumpkin Class of 2024 had the privilege to learn about Military Leadership at Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega, Georgia. Camp Merrill is the home of the Mountain Phase of Ranger School for the 75th Ranger Regiment. While students are in the North Georgia mountains, they learn about military mountaineering tasks, mobility training, and techniques for employing a platoon for combat patrol operations in a mountainous environment. What the Ranger School students endure over the course of 61+ days is incredible. From averaging about an hour and a half of sleep per night to only consuming 2,200 calories per day, Rangers are the epitome of tenacity & perseverance. I am walking away from today learning lessons in grit, leading with action, and never taking counsel from my fears. What a great day! I love this!! I love his leadership post. Someone recently told me, multiple times, that I shouldn’t work so hard. Shouldn’t lead this group that needs me. He insisted I just need to take care of me and my pending transition. Let them take care of themselves he said. Another individual told me that I could just stay “high level”. Let them handle the day to day operations. You can just sign stuff. Stay “high level”. I don’t know where these two friends (of each other) developed THEIR definition of “high level” but my definition is that I am all in. I am theirs. My rank is there to break down barriers. My experience and knowledge is there to be shared. I will be transparent. I will have integrity. I will display personal courage and never worry that people will judge or punish me for standing up and doing what is right. I will set the example. I will mentor and develop the next generation. I will set my team and the individuals (regardless of rank, status, gender, race, religion, age) up for their success - which might be different than my version of success and that is OK. I DON’T need cookie cutter versions of me. I need to employ my people in accordance with their strengths and capabilities. Lead on.

Leadership lesson from Retired USMC Lieutenant General Jon "Dog" Davis. Years ago I had the chance to hear LG Davis speak to a room full of private-sector manufacturing employees who built hardware for the Marine Corps Aviation. I was one of those employees. LG Davis shared the usual pleasantries - thanking us for the reliable, high-powered machines that we built. Expressing the importance of "battlefield readiness" and the role we played in that. Thanking us for our support of the troops. The lesson that stuck with me was LG Davis' response to a question -- as the person in charge of Marine Corps Aviation globally, how does he prioritize his time & resources? His answer was simple. "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚, 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛. 𝘼𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧." I've always admired the selflessness and discipline of the Marine Corps. The ability to prioritize the mission first, others second, and yourself last. Easier said than done. LG Davis sets a simple, yet high standard for leaders in all sectors. #leadership #USMC #servantleadership

"Learning from the Past: A Lesson from General Douglas MacArthur" In the annals of leadership, few figures stand as tall as Douglas MacArthur. My Grandfather however referred to him as "bloodthirsty." As a young manager, I often sought out my grandfathers for advice on leadership and management. One day I asked: Should you speak up when your boss is headed down the wrong path, or simply follow their lead? His answer transported me back to MacArthur's bold move before the Philippine Islands campaign in 1944. Aboard the USS Louisville, he stood with Admiral Jesse Oldendorf and several high-ranking officers. MacArthur urged immediate action by Navy UDT teams, a deviation from the norm. The Naval officers resisted due to the potential loss of lives without a proper plan. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, a fistfight between Navy and Army officers. The aftermath brought court-martials, penalized officers, and my grandfather dipping water out of the bilge pump with a teaspoon for 24 hours. In the end the Navy opted for a safer course, contrary to MacArthur's stance. Here's the takeaway my grandfather left me: Stand your ground, but do so strategically. Adhering to directions is essential, but it's your role as a leader to find a way to shift direction that doesn't result in failure for the team. If you stand firm, your team may lose their best ally. Thus, it's vital to navigate the situation in a manner that aligns with both your boss's and your team's needs. #LeadershipLessons #StrategicApproach #beBetter #JobSquad #ManufacturingJobs #OperationsJobs #PlantManagementJobs
