Last month, I had the opportunity to complete a 2-week spring internship at NVIDIA in Cambridge. During the experience, I delved into AI through my internship project, focusing on neural networks and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). I developed a GAN using PyTorch to classify handwritten digits and explored GPU acceleration, comparing training times on a CPU versus an NVIDIA A100 GPU cluster. A huge thank you to my supervisor, Zohim Chandani, for his guidance and support. His expertise greatly enriched my learning experience. Throwback to when me and my teammate Gaayatri Pradeep finished the project Fashion MNIST with CNNs using Computer Vision for the Intel Unnati Industrial Training. It was a good experience giving us knowledge about how convolutional neural networks are made as well as making us experiment with the use of different layers for the classification of the Fashion MNIST dataset. As I continue to search for internship opportunities, I am proud to announce that I have co-authored a research paper on advancing autonomous driving technology. "Language-Enhanced Latent Representations for Out-of-Distribution Detection in Autonomous Driving" (https://lnkd.in/eDM_P9nZ), this research explores how language can be integrated into image encoding to improve out-of-distribution scene detection for driving. As the second author, I collaborated with esteemed colleagues, Zhenjiang Mao, Wang Ao, and Dr. Ivan Ruchkin to demonstrate the superiority of language-enhanced representations over traditional vision encoders. Our findings will be presented at the prestigious Robot Trust for Symbiotic Societies (RTSS) conference during the IEEE RAS ICRA 2024 event. I am honored to be a part of this groundbreaking research and contribute to advancements in autonomous driving technology. It’s my honor to participate the internship program in Chinese Academy of Sciences. I can contact first-class research teams and advanced scientific research facilities, in-depth understanding of the latest research trends in the field of automation, artificial intelligence, mathematics, and system science, also experience the fun of scientific research here. I felt the academic atmosphere of the institute during the internship. I can hear a variety of academic reports and lectures, and the discussions and exchanges of researchers every week. I was impressed by their serious and rigorous approach to academic discussion and research, which also stimulated my strong interest in this field. Teamwork is one of the great things I learned during my internship. In group cooperation, I learned to listen and communicate, and learned to cooperate with others to solve problems. Each group meeting is the collision of knowledge and the exchange of ideas, which allows me to increase my knowledge and experience. In addition, I also had the opportunity to conduct some deep learning research work-- rapid and high-precision handwriting recognition based on deep neural networks, and finally improved the recognition accuracy rate through a large number of data training and testing, data preprocessing and changing the convolutional layer of neural networks. Through this study, I have improved my ability of data analysis and exercised my ability to solve problems.
