Segula India organized an invigorating yoga session on 20th June’24, on the eve of International Yoga Day. We thrive to promote wellness, relaxation and team building within our workplace creating healthy work environment. It was incredible to see colleagues coming together to embrace mindfulness and destress from their daily routine. Ever wondered how Yoga can transform even the most demanding workplaces? During a recent corporate Yoga session for Volvo employees, I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact Yoga can have on those working in physically strenuous environments. These employees, who manufacture heavy machinery like JCBs, face unique health challenges. After a detailed factory tour led by their medical officer, I tailored a session specifically to address these issues. The goal was to provide practical, on-the-spot Yoga practices they could easily incorporate into their daily routines. The session was a revelation. Employees eagerly embraced the customized practices, and their immediate feedback was incredibly positive. It was inspiring to see how even a brief Yoga session could alleviate their physical strain and improve overall well-being. At Yogavijnana, our goal is to create a healthy and supportive environment through Yoga. Sometimes a yoga session can be a way to bring staff together, such as the team at Chartwell Consulting who spend much of their time working remotely but when they do get together, they like to vary what they do. While it might sometimes be at the pub (!) on this occasion, it was on yoga mats. Thanks Angus Rowley for inviting me in. Yoga sessions can also be done sitting on a chair, such as at the Financial Reporting Council, who work with me online every month as part of a staff wellbeing initiative. Thanks Shauna Charlton, Assoc CIPD, Katie Glasner and Claudia Mortimore, Denise Durant for your ongoing support. Whatever the reason, here are a few important points to consider: 1. You do not have to be fit or flexible to benefit 2. The benefits are as much about mental as they are about physical wellbeing 3. Yoga sessions can be as short as 20 minutes 4. Most workplace yoga classes are now done in work clothes on a chair 5. Yoga is scientifically proven to support good mental and physical health, including REDUCED STRESS, INCREASED ENERGY, BETTER SLEEP.
