🎆Saying farewell to 2023: A year of progress in PVD coatings I wanted to say goodbye to 2023 with my final post of the year. As the year ends, we'll spend the next few weeks attempting to remember to type 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ instead of 2023. But we'd want to take this time to thank our great clients located all over the place from Argentina to Australia and our Avaluxe team members and friends for making this year possible. The decorative🌈PVD industry is booming, and new coating technology such as in-line coaters for fuel cells are growing in popularity. Decorative🌈coatings are evolving in a new direction. The development of new colours is reaching its saturation peak. Experts are developing decorative colours with exceptionally smooth coating layers to attain "Zero" microparticles through HiPIMS technology. The potential and kinetic energy of the depositing ions are modulated to achieve this result. Significant progress has been made, but there are still a few more developments to be made to deposit the most effective PVD coatings to realise the maximum efficiency and lifespan of the metallic bipolar ➕➖plates. Another related topic is that PVD coatings are also being considered a potential option to create a hydrogen permeation barrier. This barrier can help prevent hydrogen embrittlement in the stainless steel used in hydrogen storage tanks. The majority of tool coating industry owners have begun to turn towards HiPIMS. It's fantastic to see how people like Ralf Bandorf, Daniel Lundin, Harry Ehiasarian, David Ruzic presented this technology at the Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ in Washington. The HiPIMS panel discussion guided by Ton Hurkmans at that conference was on of the best discussion I have seen.
