Exciting Trends in Early Career Hiring for 2024! I recently spoke to a group of high school students about making their experiences stand out to future employers. I emphasized the importance of getting involved in extracurricular activities, pursuing passions, and building a well-rounded foundation for success. Today's youth are not just job seekers; they're future leaders and innovators! In line with this, I came across an intriguing trend highlighted by Korn Ferry for 2024: "Doubling Down on Early Career Hiring." Recruiters are expanding their horizons and seeking talent much earlier, even while students are still in high school. Why this shift? Financial Strategy: Entry-level hires often command lower salaries, making them an attractive option, especially in budget-conscious times. This strategy allows organizations to secure top-tier talent while being mindful of financial constraints. Inclusivity and Diversity: Building a diverse and inclusive workforce is a priority for many organizations. Casting the net wider to include candidates from various educational backgrounds contributes to a richer talent pool. This approach not only helps in achieving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) goals but also brings fresh perspectives to the table. Moreover, the expectations of young hires have evolved. Beyond skills and qualifications, they seek employers who embody values such as inclusion, balance, and compassion. There's a growing demand for empathy, emotional intelligence, and a focus on mental health at work. It's not just about hiring; it's about creating an environment where individuals can thrive personally and professionally. As employers, it's our responsibility to step up, support our people, and foster a workplace culture that embraces the aspirations of the next generation. Let's embark on this journey of early career hiring with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to shaping a future where talent knows no bounds. Together, we can build not just careers but a community of empowered individuals ready to make a difference! Thanks again for the opportunity Luke Turner #EarlyCareerHiring #FutureLeaders #TalentDevelopment #InclusionMatters #CareerAdvice #FutureOfWork #TalentPotential #EmpowerTheFuture

🏗️ Architect of Early Talent Success | 🌟 Building Tomorrow's Leaders at JLL 🌎| Director of Early Career Recruiting @ JLL
As we enter a new recruiting season, how are Gen Z's attitudes and preferences towards work changing? We have long known that Gen Z places significant importance on their well-being, which is now placing secure employment over high future earnings. "This latest wave of young workers is pausing to consider the aspects of a job that can positively affect their well-being, more so than those students immediately before them." Is this consistent with what you are seeing? How are organizations going to adapt to this change in attitudes towards work/careers. Shout out to Jane Curran for the share. https://lnkd.in/gWK_qeNG #Recruiting #GenZ #EarlyCareer #EarlyTalent #UniversityRecruiting

Project Management, Workforce Management | Brand Strategist 🎀 | Empowering leaders & online coaches to build brands that fuel their career growth |
According to a 2020 study, Gen Z workers will stay in a job for an average of 20 months— I think they may be ahead of the new project-basis employment model. Between the booming #SkillsFirst (decentering college degrees) hiring method and the rise of #fractional and contracting as the new model of employment in the job market, as a zillennial (Gen Z & millennial), we were taught to craft our personal employee brand by giving priority to education, years of experience, skills, and then passions (in that order). However, it appears that the rules are being rewritten for the next generation of employees, leaving early career employees with a bitter taste and diminished optimism. The shifting dynamics of the job market with the growing influence of #SkillsFirst and the prevalence of #fractional employment, I can't help but wonder: How do you see the redefined rules for building a personal employee brand impacting the aspirations and prospects of the next generation? Share your thoughts on the evolving landscape. Has it impacted your career journey? #ZillennialPerspectives #SkillsFirstHiring #JobMarketShift

Graduation season illuminates not just a new batch of talent but also the evolving dynamics of the workforce. The class of 2024 arrives seeking more than just a paycheck; they crave stability in an uncertain world and meaning in their work. Their shift away from tech behemoths towards legacy companies and government roles signals a desire for purpose-driven careers over flashy perks. This generation values employer reputation and transparency, leveraging reviews and salary disclosures to make informed decisions. In embracing hybrid work models, they seek the best of both worlds: the flexibility of remote work coupled with the collaboration and camaraderie of the office. As employers adapt to meet these evolving expectations, they must recognize that attracting and retaining top talent requires more than just competitive salaries—it demands a commitment to values, transparency, and flexibility. #futureofwork #graduateinsights #careertrends #employerexpectations #hybridwork #jobsearch #linkedcorp
