Terry, in your travels did you personally visit local colleges & universities to find potentials like, individuals that were completely foreign to projects, project controls, construction & mentoring them into reliable, self motivated individuals? Actually being an ambassador to international assignments? Or did you just do the assignment? I did! I nurtured people to take on challenges that left to their own “national” opportunities would have been little more than “worker bees” regardless of education. Terry I’ve seen your advancement through your career, & like many I’ve seen, they took credit. I can truthfully say the teams I built would go wherever I asked them to travel with me. How many can say that? Honestly, how many has FLR turned their back on? How many were charge hypo-tax that were not even US citizens? How many were not paid according to the host country’s labor laws? How many were “terminated” because they knew the laws & confronted the Company? You are correct! FLUOR was once a great company. Now it’s only for the bottom line & investors! Not the true “makers” of the company! The real assets, the people! It is true a company can do what it wants”wants” with assets. The same as those assets can do with a company.
“It turned out to be a great job because the entire community got behind that project to make it a success.” Terry Towle, Group President (Ret.) of Fluor’s Urban Solutions business, shares how Fluor projects make a difference. #BuildingABetterWorld #MeetFluorLeadership #ThisisFluor

One of the largest energy infrastructure projects the UK has ever seen is coming to life
Earlier this week, we hosted a unique online webinar with the Highland Council Infrastructure Department, including the Engineering and Project Design team, to give background to our Coire Glas Hydro Pumped Storage Scheme and an update on the exploratory works being undertaken on site. ⛰ This event helped both parties get an insight into this incredible project and develop collaborative ways of working, which will help bring the largest energy infrastructure projects the UK has ever seen to life. Find out more about the Coire Glas project below 👇 https://www.coireglas.com/

I love to see engineering consultancies like Sweco relying on Bluefield Research for market analysis, particularly as the Sweden-based company grows via M&A. Three key takeaways from SWECO's recent announcement: // SWECO's acquisition of Frilling+Rolfs GmbH strengthens the firm's presence in northwest Germany and aligns with its strategy of combining local expertise with international reach. // The green transition and new EU regulations are driving demand for water resilience services, creating opportunities in #water supply, sanitation, flood protection, and ecosystem restoration. // With Bluefield Research projecting $476 billion in capital expenditure for water and wastewater infrastructure from 2024 to 2030, this sector presents significant opportunities for specialized engineering and consulting firms. This move highlights the value of in-depth, data-driven analysis for strategic acquisitions and business growth. Thanks to Bluefield's team of water experts for taking the lead in providing high quality market analysis of Europe's water, wastewater, and stormwater markets. It is wonderful to see this important effort, ASCE Infrastructure 2050, gaining momentum and attention. Thank you to all stakeholders involved for your leadership on this issue, especially chair, Lauren Alger, PE and ASCE staff, Debi Denney, ENV SP American Society of Civil Engineers, STV, HNTB, Delve Underground Mott MacDonald, H&H, Kiewit, Heidelberg Materials North America, Nucor Corporation, SSAB, High Steel Structures LLC, Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, and One Click LCA Architecture 2030's latest aggregation of International Energy Agency (IEA) data indicates that the global exterior built environment’s infrastructure and sitework impact has been underrepresented. The emissions from cement, iron/steel, and aluminum used for infrastructure are responsible for 7.3% of annual global CO2 emissions. Of those total emissions, cement emissions for infrastructure are responsible for 3.9% annually, while steel, iron and aluminum emissions for infrastructure are responsible for an additional 3.4%. This is roughly the same amount of emissions from these materials that is attributed to buildings. Add this to the fact that 75% of the infrastructure that will exist in 2050 has yet to be built and one can see how important this effort is. https://lnkd.in/gtY79Wdq
On February 1st-2nd, infrastructure industry stakeholders convened at the very first ASCE Infrastructure 2050 Workshop to advance embodied carbon reduction efforts across the life cycle stages of bridges and tunnels. Representatives included engineers, steel fabricators, cement and concrete manufacturers, contractors, sustainability certification leaders and compliance tool experts, and professional industry organization leaders. By leveraging knowledge across a diverse range of industry professionals, the group outlined strategies to accelerate infrastructure decarbonization efforts. In 2024, we will continue to engage additional stakeholders for feedback, compile resources for practitioners, and evaluate methodologies to inform industry baselines.
