📢 Unlocking Insider Insights: A Comparative Look at Telecom and Insurance Hiring 📊📈 Let's dive into the fascinating world of hiring practices, within these two dynamic industries. While it may not seem so from the outside but the recruitment strategies are shaped up by quite a few factors, underlining their unique approaches. 📚 Distinct Skillsets - Due to the tech-centric nature of Telecom, tech hiring takes center stage and hold bigger share of the overall hiring pie. Candidates with background in Network Engineering, Data Science, Software development, Cybersecurity etc. are preferred. Insurance, on the other side emphasize on soft skills for customer-facing roles and analytical prowess for underwriters, risk analyst, actuaries, claim adjuster etc. 🌍Geographical nuances - Telecom has more localised hiring needs, in terms of infra deployment, regional licensing, network optimization, regional customer support centers etc. On the contrary Insurance operates with broader geographic scope in light of its extensive client base, diverse operations, and the need to navigate varying regulatory landscapes across regions. 💡Technological Advancements - Telecom often embraces the latest technologies like 5G, IoT, and AI, which may influence the skills sought in potential hires. Insurance mostly focuses on digitization and data analytics to improve customer experiences. 📝Regulations & Compliance Complexities - Due to stringent regulations & compliance requirements, Insurance involves thorough background checks, scrutinizing financial & credit history of each candidate. Telecom has fewer regulatory complexity in comparison. 🎯 Sales and Marketing Emphasis - Insurance companies heavily emphasize sales and marketing to attract clients, making recruiting for these roles a priority. While telecom might have sales and marketing roles, they may not be as central to the industry. As the curtains are drawn back, these insights reveal the nuances & disparities that shape the hiring landscapes in telecom and insurance, playing a significant role in attracting top talent #hiring #recruitment #recruitermusings #DiaryOfARecruiter #HR #Telecom #Insurance

Project failures are common. While organisations cannot guarantee zero degree project failure, with focus on proper planning, execution, monitoring and risk mitigations, the cost of project failures can be significantly controlled, and this is where organisations need to focus across their strategic programs. The cost of project failure can vary depending on various factors regardless of whether a project follows Agile or Waterfall methodologies. However, there are some differences in how failures might manifest and be mitigated in each approach: 1. Waterfall: In the Waterfall model, the entire project is planned and executed sequentially, with each phase dependent on the completion of the previous one. If a problem arises late in the development process, it can be costly to rectify since it may require going back to earlier stages and making significant changes. The cost of failure in Waterfall projects can be high due to the potential for large-scale rework and missed deadlines. 2. Agile: Agile projects are broken down into smaller iterations or sprints, allowing for continuous feedback and adaptation. While this can mitigate some risks, the cost of failure in Agile projects can still be significant. However, failures are often detected earlier in the development process, making it easier and less costly to address them. Agile teams can quickly pivot, adjust priorities, and incorporate lessons learned from failures into subsequent iterations. In summary, while both Agile and Waterfall projects can experience failure, the cost and impact of failure may differ due to the iterative nature of Agile development and the sequential nature of Waterfall. Agile's emphasis on flexibility and continuous improvement may result in faster recovery from failures, but both approaches require careful planning, execution, and risk management to minimize the cost of failure.
