Today I spent an hour pulling together a new map of #BayArea #Makerspaces for adding to our Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation at UC Berkeley website. I divided the map into two layers: college level #AcademicMakerspaces and Membership Makerspaces Open to the Public. Defining "makerspace" for this map's purpose is a location with shared tools that include some aspect of fabrication. I did not include art studios focused on ceramics or printing. RE: academic makerspaces, the list is focused on spaces that are accessible to any student across campus (vs. a lab associated with a program). I found some new ones, which was fun. Also noticed a number that have expired. Am I missing anyone? Reactions?
