Judgment ⚖ - Western Cape High Court - application for leave to appeal – test for leave to appeal – firstly, reasonable prospects of success – secondly, where the court comes to the conclusion that there is some other compelling reason why the appeal should be heard. “…The conclusion is that the appeal does not bear prospects of success is significantly strengthened when one considers that the determination of a just and equitable remedy is a discretion in the true sense and an appellate court may not interfere unless it is clear that the choice the court has preferred is at odds with the law.” #CourtJudgment #LeaveToAppeal #LegalUpdate #Law #AnnekeWhelanAttorneys #LitigationAttorneys #CommercialLitigation

After the Ourspace chapter closed, it took me a while to find what I was looking for next. Shutting down my startup was the most introspective I've ever been about my career. I thought a lot about what I wanted to opt into, and more importantly what I wanted to opt out of. Circuit is the outlier I was looking for - bootstrapped, profitable, intentionally small, and exciting yet sustainable growth. Equally as important, I was looking for a place that's as intentional about *how* they work as *what* they work on. And when I say intentional, I mean it: We don't use Slack, OKRs, or scrum. And there are very, very few meetings. All of this is by careful design. And takes immense courage to not simply mirror "normal" ways of working just because everyone else is doing it. It's this kind of nonconformity that got me especially excited about working with Jack Underwood and the team at Circuit. Onward!
We're absolutely delighted to announce that Megan Murphy has joined the Circuit Team! Great to have you on board, Megan. 🎉

🌟 Canto SKO left an indelible mark on my career journey, standing out as THE best #SKO experience. It wasn't just about enduring a typical PowerPoint parade and being talked at; it was an immersive blend of reward, inspiration, and genuine camaraderie. No checkboxes here—just real, impactful team building in one luxurious and stunning location. The schedule struck the perfect balance, allowing us ample time for both learning and leisure. The cuisine whispered, "You're worth it," echoing the sentiment of appreciation from our leaders throughout our time in Austin, Texas. We departed feeling more than just colleagues; we were a tight knit family with a shared purpose. This photo, with our stunning daily view, captures the magic of unity and achievement. It exemplifies how investing in company culture and morale yields tremendous results. This is what effective team building looks like—more than just a checkbox, it's about delivering tangible outcomes and fostering genuine connection. What a phenomenal time indeed! #Canto SKO #TeamBuilding #CompanyCulture #bestcompanytoworkfor #leadershiplessons
Canto SKO 24’ was a HUGE success! Thank you Christine Moore and Ryan Gallo for setting this up for us and even getting our CEO Wain Kellum to come out and enjoy with us! We had a blast, the team needed this. Great year ahead and really excited for all the work we will accomplish 💪🏾 Additional shouts to Dan Noble, Avi Kasperzyk and Chris Olive for keeping things moving along! Couldn’t have gone as smooth without all of you 🙏🏾

Prior to Bravura, I had 6-7 different companies which all had success in their own way, but none were largely successful and in many cases ended in complete failure. After each failure I would learn how to come back bigger and better, however, never did I think that I could reach the heights that my partner jace cunnane and I have reached. So, after a year of being in business I wanted to take some time to reflect on some things I’ve learned along the way. Networking is the key to success in any industry, and I’ve found that the utilization of old and new connections is a large part of our success at Bravura. Fostering new and unique relationships, especially with those who are like-minded, helps lay down the stepping stones towards success. Resource management is also vital for any business, whether that be how you allocate your funds, utilize your assets, or manage manpower, all are so important towards longevity. Allocating funds properly is much easier in the beginning, however at scale you run into issues like overspending which I had never imagined to ever be an issue. Manpower management and being able to properly manage your employees is another skill that does not come overnight. Being able to properly manage your relationships whilst maintaining success can prove to be a difficult task, but this task’s success is vital for the growth of the overall business. Finding people to outsource to and training people to do your job is part of the beauty of starting your own business. Being a good leader and teacher is important in this regard, lack of this gives your business a lower ceiling thus holding you back from your business’s full potential. Finally, after being in the social media space for almost a decade, I’ve come to realize the sheer power of media. Your life can be changed overnight by just one post. That being said, I am so thankful to be given the opportunity and the ability to master social media. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for our journey towards success here at Bravura.
Two months ago, we hit our companies one year mark of being in business. A month after that, we hit our goal of one million dollars in sales! A small achievement in our eyes as we are aiming to 3x our sales before our two year mark, but still something to celebrate nonetheless. Congratulations team!

Have you met Lucas Fonseca with Language Matters? Earlier this week, Lucas visited Ferguson to talk about his business, which offers cultural coaching and consulting services as well as language tutoring and translation services. For marketers like me, it's great to lean on someone like Lucas to help with communicating. If you are looking for someone to help you bridge the language and culture gaps, Lucas is your person!
Thank you Jaclyn Goldsborough for inviting me to meet your team at Ferguson! I enjoyed our conversation and I look forward to collaborating with you and your team in the near future!

Master of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management 2023-present, Florida; Master of Education in Leadership 2018, New Zealand.
I was waiting for this session for about two weeks but unfortunately, I missed it. The topic was interesting to me because it would have allowed me to hear some other opinions from a different audience/ experts. In 2018 I conducted a research paper about (Postgraduate learners’ perceptions of factors that support their autonomous motivation to learn in online contexts), when I did my 1st master's degree in New Zealand. I used the self-determination theory as the analytical framework to explore the factors perceived by online learners as supportive of their autonomous motivation to learn in online environments at a postgraduate level. The semi-structured interview findings that emerged from the inductive thematic analysis indicated that factors perceived as supportive of learners’ psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, are more likely to enhance online learners’ autonomous motivation and promote the process of internalization allowing more self-determined types of extrinsic motivation to exist. Anyway, if anyone is interested, there is a copy of my research in my profile here on Linkedin if you want to check it out. Thanks, Dr. Miranda for keeping doing these kinds of interesting workshops and sessions.
Big thank you to Britanny N. Balthaser, BA, Lloydine O'Sullivan and Nelson Olivia for making this a fantastic session! 💙💛🐾

More doors closing in retail and the people affected are staying positive and making the most of their time with each other 💖 That's what a retail family is all about. Please support the store managers, district managers, supervisors and the staff looking for work across the country. Your retail skills are valuable and absolutely transferable into almost any field. For anyone hiring here is a day in the life....You talk to anyone who comes in. You watch the KPIs and coach the staff to drive performance. You teach life skills to entry level employees and hold accountable grown adults. You multi-task like you have a legion of people in the building while really managing payroll to the quarter hour. You have difficult conversations and console your people with every day struggles in and out of work. You havetalk professionally and without judgment to individuals who lost their mind over a policy you can't change. You keep the place clean and visually gorgeous every day. And you do it all with a smile and an earpiece on. I see you. I support you. I am here if you want to comment, complain, or cry. That's what family is for. It is all about our people. #retail #love #thestruggleisreal #hiring
We got the news on Wednesday that our location is closing. I have to be honest I’m still in that denial stage… but the first thing that came to my mind was “ omg my people ! “ and how I was going to break down this news to them. It hasn’t been easy but my team and I came together and we decided we are going to make the best of it. We are going to celebrate all the small wins from now til our doors close and cherish all our moments together💫
