I was totally surprised not when I saw this on my desk but when I came to know that today is 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲! I've always believed in the power of appreciation to create a positive work environment. Today, I experienced that power firsthand! I found a token of appreciation on my desk, reminding me of how important it is to recognize and celebrate each team member's contributions. It made me feel valued, motivated, and even more dedicated to my work at Immence. There's something special about such a simple gesture that can stir up such deep feelings. It confirms my belief that appreciation should be part of our work culture every day, not just on special occasions. While celebrating cultural holidays and festivals is important, days like today, dedicated to recognizing the human side of our workplace, are also crucial. Reflecting on my dynamic tenure as the General Director at fashion company Sophie Paris in Vietnam, I'm reminded of the unconventional yet incredibly effective approach we adopted to kickstart our events - with a vibrant dance! 🕺💃 Picture this: even the most formal business meetings began with the room bursting into life, as loud music filled the air and everyone, regardless of position or seniority, joined in the dance. This wasn't just an ice breaker; it was a culture shifter. It set the stage for positive vibes, unleashed creativity, and reminded us all to embrace the lighter side of life. Fast forward to today, my mornings have evolved but the essence remains the same. They begin with a moment of prayer, meditation, and writing my gratitude list which I share with my friends and family, followed by a physical activity like swimming, biking, or running, and capped off with a nourishing breakfast. 🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️🍓 It's a testament to the power of movement, fun, and humor in keeping us grounded and connected to what truly matters. This philosophy mirrors the wisdom of my great mentor and friend, Avi Z Liran, who has always championed the importance of not taking ourselves too seriously and finding joy in every moment. So, here's a gentle reminder: let's keep moving, stay playful, and embrace each day with a light heart and a smile. Even when I take a break from working, I think about the world of work, especially when visiting a new place. As I observe the metro activity in South Korea during peak hours, I can't help but wonder what the people's day was like, what type of work they do, and whether the smile or a half-asleep disengaged expression has anything to do with how their workplace is. I'm then reminded that what I do at work has an effect on me and others, which makes a difference on the overall experience. Kindness, for example, is a powerful tool that can make a big difference in the workplace.
