GitHub makes collaboration and communication easy when it comes to design systems. We use issues and discussions to track bugs and questions, it helps us build a knowledge base. These tools are surprisingly absent in our design tools, and this needs to change. I am going to change that. #ux #designsystems #equalityintools

In this article about what Engineers bring to the Product Discovery table there’s just so much that rings true. 💫 But I want to highlight one section in particular: “While delivery is important, product managers should spend the majority of their time in discovery. When I tell product managers this, I always get pushback. Who will help the engineers when they have questions? Who will make sure the current sprint is on track? Who will ensure that we make our release date? The answer to all of these questions should be your engineering lead. Let’s look at why this isn’t happening today. When a product manager does all the discovery, the engineers have no one to turn to when they have questions about what they are building except for the product manager. This is why the product manager gets pulled into delivery so often. It’s impossible to define perfect requirements. There will always be questions about what something means. There will always be a need to revise requirements based on feasibility limitations that come up as we code. Today, on most teams, the product manager is the go-to person to answer these questions. But if the tech lead also participates in discovery, they will be equally good at answering these questions. This not only frees up the product manager to spend more time in discovery and more time with the rest of the business, it also gives the engineers more autonomy, allowing them to move faster.” — Teresa Torres So often I hear that Engineers, and quite frankly the rest of the cross-functional product development team beyond the PM, want to be more empowered and yet they don’t want to participate in Discovery 💡. Well, we’ve got news for you: Product Discovery is the answer to being more empowered. If you participate in it, once you finally have enough evidence to move an initiative out of Discovery and into Delivery, you don’t need a PM to write every user story and every bit of acceptance criteria for you. You have just as much customer insight and context as the PM, AND you’ve all come to a shared understanding of it after some healthy debates. 🎉 Please give the full article a read. It’s well worth 10min or your time (and I’m a slow reader). 🤓 #productdiscovery #softwaredevelopment #leanux #empowered
"Engineers bring skills to the discovery process that other members of the product team may not have. This is why it’s so valuable to have them participate—even if they'd rather be writing code." https://buff.ly/3kfxL3H #prodmgmt #ux #engineering

Yesterday I tried to create a new outlook account and I failed captcha. Even I tried 5 or 6 times, I failed each time and I gave up. I switched to another provider. I have no idea who came up with this idea, but UX is really bad here. At first try, I did not even understand what I should do 😶 And you have to do this for 5 times in a row to pass the test. And you cannot know if you failed until you complete 5 of them. #microsoft #ux #captcha #outlook
