👋 I am someone who likes to get straight to the point and choose materials that are truly worth my time to develop an understanding of essential concepts. That's why I prefer to watch videos that not only inform but also transform. That make you rethink, relearn, and rediscover the world and your place in it. Recently, I pondered which concepts resonate most with people and which TED Talks have truly influenced their perspectives. Thoughts… “Don’t talk unless you can improve the silence.” This is something as a leader I continue to refine, learn, and apply. Do you find that some meetings and conversations can so quickly lack meaningful insight or not be of value to those in the room? I do. What works for me... Holding back from engaging affords me the space for the moment when I do speak, it comes across as insightful, positive, and intentional. Words should contribute positively rather than filling silence for its own sake, and breaking it should be justified by the importance or usefulness of what is being said. It makes me different. Acknowledge someone’s humanity today. One behavior of great leaders is to make efforts to connect with each team member. Here are some ways to acknowledge someone’s humanity: --Show appreciation for their talents and contributions in front of others. Be in the moment and sincere, or it can come off as creepy and unauthentic. --Thank them for a job well done. --Show empathy for their experiences when it comes up in a conversation. Are they “off” today? Use your powers of curiosity to ask a good question. --Be present when you speak to people. Put that device away. --Call people by their name. So simple. Happy Tuesday!
