Excited to share my new adventure!
After 5 years building and designing hyperscale Data Centers for two of the largest players in the industry, I've taken a different role with a fantastic builder looking to expand their footprint in the Mission Critical market.
I'm only a week in, but here are a few of the things that attracted me to PCL:
1) PCL is a Builder-led company. We are fully employee owned and people stay with the company for decades leading to better outcomes for our clients. Recently, I've seen many GC's struggle with bad growth, putting the wrong people in the wrong roles because they are stretched too thin. We aren't looking for volume - we are looking for partners.
2) In addition to our Mission Critical Buildings work, PCL has depth on multiple complementary verticals: Heavy Industrial, Alternative Energy, and Civil. Leveraging this background will help us deliver capacity faster, more cost efficiently, and better connect our clients to alternates paths of delivery. Whether you are prepositioning a site with heavy civil, looking at solar installations, or prefabricating large portions of your infrastructure, we can help.
3) We are international. In addition to a multi-billion dollar presense in the US, PCL is the largest builder in Canada (for those expanding northward), and we have a recent expansion into Australia. If you are looking at projects in these markets, reach out!
I've spent the last 5 years helping to solve for building at Scale. Whether it's a new location still in master planning, or you are looking for help scaling your construction program, PCL has a diverse set of people and tools to help. Looking forward to getting back out there!
Meet our new PCL Construction team member, Michael Clark, director, mission critical! Mike joins PCL with over 20 years of construction experience, most recently as lead construction manager at Meta, overseeing a full project pivot to Meta's new AI-focused data center design. Prior to that, Mike served as a Data Center Systems Architect and Program Manager for Google, where he oversaw the deployment of a first of a kind design and helped to drive deployment and design strategy for Google Cloud's supporting infrastructure. Mike completed his education at Georgia Institute of Technology, receiving his bachelor’s degree in building construction and his master’s degree in building construction and facility management. In his role with PCL, Mike will lead business planning, strategic initiatives, client relations, and oversee data center and mission critical projects.
