🗣Don't let the number of applicants deter you from pursuing your dream job It's not uncommon to see job postings with hundreds of applicants, but here's a little secret: from my experience, a significant portion of those applicants might not even meet the qualifications or be located where the job is offered. So, if you have the skills, qualifications, and genuinely believe you'd be a great fit for the role, don't hesitate to apply! After all, you'll never know unless you take the opportunity. Your unique talents and experiences could be exactly what the employer is looking for. Remember, it's not about being the most qualified candidate; it's about being the right fit. So go ahead, submit that application and let your potential shine!

How I landed my Customer Service Job pt. 10 (Same Job Role Different Organization) So this fateful day whilst working I came across an ad on Facebook about a company recruiting, I sluggishly applied since I've applied to several others without any feedback whatsoever, I didn't put my mind to it. Boom! Two days later I was called for an interview, but didn't want to attend, thank God for my dearest friend at the time( Toba Osundare ) who pushed for it and advised that it was okay to seek out for better opportunities, thank God I listened. I eventually went, but didn't prepare enough for it because it was impromptu and I didn't know they'll respond to my mail. ***** "Is this your glasses recommended?" "Hmmmm so why did you go for the red color, well take a sit and tell me all about it", the man's voice on the chair right in front of me echoed. He continued... 'What is the difference between an Optician, Opthalmologist and an Optometrist?' "Yeeeeeehhhhhhhh!!! What is this man trying to do?" I whispered to myself. 'How does this even relate to why I'm here?' "Are these the interview questions?" "How do I explain to this man that the reason I was at the hospital in the first place was because of the sharp growth in my left eye, that left me with chronic and constant pains hence the need for the urgent medical attention." Well I said what I felt were the definitions and viola interview questions continued. I spent the longest time amongst other interviewees. I asked questions when necessary and we continued like that for another thirty minutes or so. I was given transport fare at the end of the interview, because of this, I felt I didn't perform well enough. But my friend felt otherwise, he said it was because I did great during the interview hence the reason for the money. Whichever way, I didn't feel so bad since I still had a job. Two days later I was offered the position. Working with a Drilling company has been a fun ride since then, so much to learn in an entirely different field. It has been quite interesting so far and I like it here too. Great bosses and team members. Moral Lesson: Know something about everything! Until I come your way again next week, bye. Somebody thought my job posting was funny: Here is a summary of why the post is the way it is: 1. We are a small but mighty family business, that gives me creative freedom when hiring. What’s important is this: whatever it says in that post - that is really what I am looking for…. As opposed to a job posting that sounded good but in the end was very different. 2. The best people I have found in the course of building our family businesses have come from non-standard job postings, non-orthodox interviews, hiring from places you would never think, relationship building and crafting jobs around good people rather than trying to fit people into a mould. 3. Over the past few years, I have had the unfortunate/fortunate reality and opportunity to deal with literally dozens of lawyers due to the challenges that life throws your way to test you as you grow. I asked myself a few times whether every lawyer does actually want to follow the same path of working for a law firm and then working their way up the ranks to become a partner, etc. … isn’t there some lawyers that would prefer to work in private companies as in-house counsels and to use their skill sets in a little broader way. From a work life balance, personal accomplishments, vision and culture standpoint, —> I will bet our company is way more enjoyable and rewarding. 4. I have had the pleasure of conversing with one of our customers recently. She is a young entrepreneur, super motivated, has accomplished so much already, in her late 20’s / early 30’s , product getting into tons of retail outlets in Quebec and nationally and really doing well - I learned that she is actually a lawyer by way of her studies, finished her schooling, took the bar but her heart and mind didn’t want that as a career - she wanted to create a product and do something else. …went into a super competitive product category, got investors and world class leadership and began her journey…. I was so impressed by her that I started to wonder whether I could find such an exceptional person to work with us. 5. We are a relatively small company and at this point are using external counsels for a number of smaller things / but those tasks could easily be achieved by a person trained in law whilst also filling the role of an executive assistant where administration and organization are key and are already well ingrained into a law person’s ethos. 6. If the above person could be found then I could invest healthily into that person as a substitute to my external lawyer bills and perhaps get a very capable assistant out of it as well… further a lot of what I am looking for in an assistant is extreme attention to details, legal document reviews, ability to think and act on their feet, ability to make decisions when needed and be accountable, great ethics… sounds like a lawyer to me :) 7. I was in a Cannabis field when I thought of this so my creative juices might have been flowing too much :) The post stands
I thought I've seen it all but this job title takes the cake.
