As we commemorate Juneteenth, a day of liberation and reflection, we at Shatterproof are proud to honor and amplify the voices of Black individuals who have bravely shared their experiences with substance use disorder (SUD) and recovery. In a powerful video, three inspiring Black men shared their stories at the Shatterproof Walk, showcasing the resilience, strength, and hope that define our community. Their journeys shed light on the challenges faced and the courage it takes to overcome them. Research highlights significant disparities in treatment access for Black Americans, with less than 7% of individuals aged 12 and above with SUD receiving the necessary support. This gap is even more pronounced for historically marginalized populations. At Shatterproof, we believe in the power of every voice. By sharing these stories, we strive to dismantle the walls of stigma and foster a nurturing environment for all those touched by SUD. Let's stand together in support. A great post on a very important day. This year, I launched RLD Digital which is growing faster than I could’ve imagined. One of the things I never thought about until seeing this post was “the racial wealth gap” and how workplace systems have impacted black workers to increase their own wealth in America. One of the reasons I started my own agency, was due to leadership creating a “glass ceiling” for me to move ahead up the chain; also preventing opportunities and creating roadblocks for me to build lucrative professional relationships with others across the organization. In a recent role, an SVP moved me to a small budgeted account (Which I requested to be on this account in order to expand my responsibilities). It was the easiest work in my career where we just created IG ads. However, after I on-boarded a full new team, the SVP slowly started to move me off the large budgeted account I was on even though the Managing Director wanted me to remain on the large account. I also wanted to remain a part of the team. She kept me on the team but told me to just focus less on the account and allocate my direction/focus to this small account. On this smaller account, she also integrated a VP as a supervisor which was very unecessary. Prior to my arrival, two managers ran this account on their own. I knew I was being set-up to fail. The VP caused minor errors on the job due to her intentional poor leadership tactics, which made me look invaluable. I went from successfully managing several multi-million dollar client accounts at one time to struggling to manage 1 small basic Instagram-focused account at this new job (Even though the client loved me and my work). My position wasn’t being allocated enough to client accounts, considering my salary. This is an example of “creating a glass ceiling”. Not getting a promotion or raise are not the only things that prevent Black employee growth and minority wealth equity in America. Leadership tactics to intentionally cause career roadblocks are also issues we face. There comes a point in time where Black workers (All workers really), must create their own career path. Putting your livelihood in the hands of others who don’t care about you is in a lot of ways setting your own self back. Learn as many skills as you can and start your own company, You can be an agency employee and work on 3-5 client accounts as a Director leading a team or overseeing everything by yourself. Those SOW agreements could be generating anywhere from $500,000 to $10,000,000 in annual agency revenue. Yet, the annual salary you’re bringing in from leading those accounts and doing the work could only range from$120,000 - $175,000. If you take your expertise and start your own agency successfully, I bet the idea of “equal pay” will feel very different. Working for brands/companies you love is great, but successfully starting your own company is a win win — if it’s a success. #LaborDay #NAACP #blackracialgap #workplaceequity

As we delve into #BlackHistoryMonth, we confront the harsh realities of the past that must not be forgotten. Throughout history, Black individuals faced unimaginable hardships – from the horrors of the transatlantic slave trade to centuries of enslavement. For example, the legacy of the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921, where a thriving Black community was violently destroyed, serves as a stark reminder of the racial violence that occurred. After emancipation, they continued to battle discrimination, segregation, and systemic racism, enduring violence and unequal treatment. The scars of redlining, voter suppression, and economic disparities still linger today, a painful reminder of the systemic inequalities that persist. Facing these unsettling facts is an uncomfortable but necessary step towards understanding the deeply rooted challenges Black communities have faced. It's not just a history lesson; it's a call to action for a more equitable future. By acknowledging this history and the ongoing struggles for justice, we can work together to create lasting change and ensure that every voice is heard and every life is valued. 💔🌍 #Equality #SocialJustice #BlackHistoryMonth

🌟 This Black History Month, we're shedding light on a critical issue affecting many in the Black community: intimate partner violence. 🖤 Systemic racism and societal structures have created a troubling reality where both Black women and men experience intimate partner violence at disproportionately high rates. Barriers to economic opportunities, healthcare, and safety exacerbate the risk factors for domestic violence among Black individuals, making it difficult for survivors to seek support. Additionally, the systems meant to protect may fail Black survivors, with law enforcement sometimes mishandling cases and Black survivors often facing disbelief compared to their White counterparts supported by the compelling statistics showcased in our infographic. Let's stand together to raise awareness and address these systemic injustices, working towards a safer and more equitable world for all. #BlackHistoryMonth #EndIntimatePartnerViolence #JusticeForAll

Join us in reflecting on the State of Black America. This event brings together persuasive voices to discuss the historical and contemporary factors impacting the lives of Black people. It's an opportunity for leaders of corporations, educational institutions, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) members to actively listen to sentiments that Black employees feel but may not express. Parents, clergy, neighbors, law enforcement officers, and teachers are also encouraged to take part in this conversation to gain insight into the thoughts of others and reflect on their own. This conversation is honest, sometimes raw, and always needed but rarely engaged in a mixed audience. Let's take advantage of this opportunity to listen and learn. #BlackLivesMatter #DiversityandInclusion #ERGs #CommunityReflection #blackhistorymonth #generations #civilrights #humanityfirst #meaningfulwork #blackculture #churchleadership Join us: https://lnkd.in/eDNnPs9m
