Leading cloud-native teams | Transforming and modernizing organizations to adapt to DevOps practices
I think some people who work in the tech industry can really benefit from joining the military. There are some interesting and challenging specialties that techies can benefit from. If you don't care about solving "the world biggest challenges" but still want to have a fulfilling career in tech and maybe explore these biggest challenges from a different angle, go and do some research on what the military has to offer. But before you sign any papers please do the following: 1. Do an extensive research on the MOSs (military specialties); 2. Understand all the pros and cons; 3. Don't let recruiters fool you; 4. Be a pragmatist!!! #careeradvice #techcareer #militarytech #careerdevelopment

Every day at ECS, we see firsthand the unique combination of skills, knowledge, and discipline that U.S. military veterans bring to their civilian careers. But what does it take for veterans to successfully transition to post-military roles? 1️⃣ TIMING IS EVERYTHING Proper timing is crucial for a smooth transition from active-duty service to civilian work. By leveraging terminal and transitional leaves, service members can align their job search with their separation dates, allowing a seamless transition. 2️⃣ NETWORKING SETS THE STAGE FOR SUCCESS Networking is key for breaking into the civilian workforce. Veterans are encouraged to establish a strong presence on professional networks like LinkedIn, connect with fellow veterans, and form mentorships with industry professionals. 3️⃣ PREPARE FOR THE CULTURE SHIFT Cultural shifts can be challenging but are manageable with the right preparation. Veterans are encouraged to use professional resume writing services to effectively translate their skills and knowledge for the corporate world. Did you know many veterans are choosing to take up careers in the networking space? It may not seem obvious at first, but this is a natural fit for ex-military personnel looking to apply their technical skills. This is what I’ve noticed… 🌳 Experience in high-tension environments makes them great candidates for responding and resolving tech incidents quickly and smoothly. 🌳 Military precision means always performing at optimal efficiency, resulting in less network downtime and projects completed faster. 🌳 Leadership and teamwork are in a veteran's DNA, making collaboration and communication seamless. 🌳 Continuous learning is non-negotiable in the armed forces and this translates into great habits for the fast-paced networking industry 🌳 Security awareness and detection of threats are second nature, sharp responsiveness is a key and important skill for managing networks. 🌳 Not to mention they often come with that all-important security clearance. The competencies developed during military service aren't just transferable; they're a cutting-edge advantage in network engineering. What's your experience with veterans in the tech industry? Do you see their military skills giving them an edge in network engineering? 👇 #networkengineering #dmv #clearancejobs #clearance #military #veterans
