I have been going through my military records today, and it got me thinking: What is your shoulder sleeve insignia for former wartime service and what does it mean to you? In case you do not know, the shoulder sleeve insignia for former wartime service, commonly known as the "combat patch," is a distinctive patch worn on the right sleeve of the uniform by US Army soldiers who have served in combat. It signifies the individual's participation in a designated wartime period or campaign. The importance of the combat patch lies in several aspects: Recognition of Service, Unit Cohesion, Tradition and Honor, and Combat Identification. A combat patch connects soldiers to the long history of the military and the sacrifices made by those who have served before them. It represents a sense of duty, valor, and pride in one's service. Overall, the combat patch holds significant symbolic and practical importance within the military community, representing both individual service and collective sacrifice in defense of the nation. My patch, you ask, is the Special Forces Patch awarded on 18 July 2007. #avgeek #military #aviationlovers #aviationdaily #aviationsafety #specialforces #helogirls #mentorshipmatters #militaryservice #veteran #combat

Honor. Remember. Breathe. Check in with yourself, check in with your brothers and sisters. It's OK to not be OK sometimes. Please try to be OK most of the time. And if you need help, please find a therapist, a coach, a retreat, a movement practice, a meditation practice, or whatever helps you come back to center. 🙏🏽✨ #Extortion17 #NeverForget #NeverForgotten #VeteransHelpingVeterans #WellnessCoach #TraumaCoach #Veteran
On August 6, 2011, a CH-47 Chinook helicopter—call sign Extortion 17—was shot down in the Wardak province of Afghanistan, resulting in the largest single-day loss in Special Operations history. 38 lives were lost that day including 25 U.S. Special Operations Personnel, five U.S. Army Crewmen and eight Afghan Commandos—as well as one U.S. Military Working Dog. Sadly, 34 children lost their father that day. SOWF remains resolute in our commitment to be there for each of these children, every step of the way, during their respective educational journeys. Today, please pause to pay tribute to the fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and friends who were lost 12 years ago. Feel free to share, comment, and add your own memories as we remember the sacrifices these heroes made for our country and our freedom! #NeverForgotten #Extortion17 #LLTB

Today is National Military Spouse Appreciation Day! Let's take a moment to recognize and appreciate the incredible contributions, support, and sacrifices of the spouses of the Armed Forces. Military spouses demonstrate tremendous strength and patriotism, constantly adapting to frequent changes and unexpected life developments. They prepare for many unknowns during military life, unable to make a plan for more than a few days in advance. During deployments, training, and many other circumstances, military spouses hold down the home front while their husband or wife serves their country. Depending on the length of service, they may move many times and often all over the world. Military spouses spend many months apart during stressful deployments with limited communication or training. Today, we honor and appreciate military spouses' hard work and dedication. At KJLogistics, LLC we salute those whose dedication is everywhere. Join us in thanking military spouses for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice. #MilitarySpouseAppreciationDay #Kjlogisticsus #supplychain #melbourne

A Call to Action: Lessons from Ukraine for the Future Force Fifty years ago, the US Army faced a strategic inf lection point after a failed counterinsurgency effort in Vietnam. In response to lessons learned from the Yom Kippur War, the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command was created to reorient thinking and doctrine around the conventional Soviet threat. Today’s Army must embrace the Russo-Ukrainian conflict as an opportunity to reorient the force into one as forward-thinking and formidable as the Army that won Operation Desert Storm. This article suggests changes the Army should make to enable success in multidomain large-scale combat operations at today’s strategic inflection point. After examining multidomain operations during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the study team asserts that the Army should reassess the roles and responsibilities of headquarters at echelon to account for multidomain operations and other emerging organizational structures like the Penetration Division. The Army must expand linkages between joint exercises, division-level warfighters, and combat training rotations to teach synchronization of convergence and combined arms within the context of multidomain operations. DePuy’s “how to fight” manuals of the past reinvented as chat platforms fueled by generative AI knowledge bases and layered on top of National Training Center rotations, division and corps warfighter exercises, and small-unit training would serve as the ultimate convergence activity. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are buying lessons with blood that not only preserve their freedom but can also help the US Army deter and, if necessary, fight and win future wars at a lower cost of life and treasure. It would dishonor those soldiers’ sacrifices and the memory of General DePuy not to pay full attention.
