It's #winewednesday! With November coming to a close, it's getting to that time of year when New Year's Eve plans start to loom. This includes choosing your NYE champagne. Here I wrote about why Andre' just might be a good choice. Before you give me a huge thumbs down or an evil side eye, take a read why I give it a thumbs up! (If you also choose Andre, or have a favorite champagne/sparkling wine that is your go-to for NYE, let me know!)

Daily Dollop of Wallop #10 Morning Monday people - what's good? Today, I want to share with you an opinion I have had over the years that's completely divided opinion. Caused some debate (amongst my industry peers) and generally stirred up a little swell. This is centred around the notion of serving a 250ml measure of wine. For me, it's an awful way of presenting a wine. I have never and nor will I ever support the serving of this measure. Perhaps surprisingly, my stance is NOT based on the measure itself. I don't really have a huge issue with this in terms of the volume. My problem is the aesthetic aspect of it. It doesn't matter what vessel is used to house the wine, it just looks too vast and displeasing to me. It screams 'more' and 'vastness'. It says to me 'greed' and the 'cant wait won't wait' mentality at the bar when the drinker simply says "make it a large one then I won't have to come back to the bar". It's laziness and a lack of intent to explore another wine. Like I say, It really doesn't have much to do with the 250ml measure itself. I will happily have a few 125ml measure if wines which would defeat the point, if my argument was in fact based around the specific volume of wine. Having a 250ml measure of one wine doesn't permit the opportunity to enjoy two 125's of different wines. Thus allowing you to potentially try something different. Thus supporting the whole wine list of the establishment in which you are in. Thus not putting to the test the work that has gone into producing that list FOR YOU to enjoy, explore and experience. Really keen to see what your views are on this. It has been a relative hot topic for a few years now and there are so many opinions, all of which I think have validity. This was my own personal opinion. What's yours? Leverage you beverage. #madetomeasure #opinions #winemeasures #ukhospitality #whatdoyouthink #winelover #disruptiveleadership

When asking Reenen Borman what has been one important lesson learned in his winemaking journey, he responded: "When I worked in France, I started to understand that wine should be part of your daily life, and not just an 8-5 job. This enables you to experience wine differently, notice the finer side of the beverage and what the difference is between a good and a great product." 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 Guests: Unless the host asked you to bring a bottle of wine to the dinner party, it's best to make clear that your wine is intended as a thank-you rather than something that needs to be served with the dinner. You can say, "Thank you for having me, Hope you can enjoy this soon." Hosts: If your guest arrives with a bottle of wine, it's best to ask if they'd like you to serve it with dinner. If they say yes, serve the bottle whether it pairs with your meal or not. How do you handle this situation? https://loom.ly/lVcgsTo
