At DigitalEurope we just published our #manifesto for making Europe #adigitalpowerhouse, and I loved being part of the process. Lots of proactive recommendations to ensure Europe keeps a crucial role in leading on #digital for its people, its business and the climate. Here are the ones that stood up to me: - One market, one set of rules. Removing single market barriers can account in 713B€ growth by 2025. - European skills passport and #digital competency classes for all. Today, only 14 member states currently include computer science in the primary and secondary school curricula. We need to invest now to shorten the skills gap - Public and private collaboration on #cyber. Learn from initiative like the Cyber campus in France and extend more broadly - Focus on global standard, starting with #AI. With the rapid evolution of AI, the time is now to ensure ethical use, protect human rights, and foster trust in AI systems globally - Adopting #greendigitaltransformation strategies. In manufacturing, the potential is massive to drive productivity while reducing the carbon & energy footprint Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl Ray Pinto Vincenzo Renda Hilary Mine Download the full #manifesto here https://lnkd.in/dn8dvfsE

Christoph Aeschlimann presented „From Telco to Tech-Co“: the r/evolutionary path #telecom service providers must take to succeed in today’s #dynamic market environment. For many years the telco services business was one-dimensional. The service providers operated a monolithic #infrastructure to deliver initially voice and later also data communication services. The #internet changed the telecommunications market - it became manifold and evolved very fast. The proliferation of new services opened the supplier side of the market for new competitors from IT, SW and content segments. To stay competitive, telcos must adapt - quickly and permanently. The evolution to players in the #software and content services markets cannot be based upon the former monolithical infrastructure. Disaggregation is a must: Telcos need to become software companies using the latest technologies in hardware and software, competent in development and operations, but especially in innovation. For example, #artificial_intelligence is extremely important for telcos. It provides huge opportunities by allowing for intelligent automation in service creation and operation as well as customer engagement in pre- and post-sales. Furthermore, partnerships play an increasingly critical role to create the #ecosystems they need to stay competitive in terms of speed and cost. The cooperation with software, cloud and content providers requires operating models embedded in a consistently integrated ecosystem. Telcos evolve into tech-co’s! Hence the business needs a radical modernization. Still network and infrastructure are necessary but by no means sufficient. A completely new „System of Engagement“ has to be created and constantly adapted. It is supported by „Systems of Record“, „Systems of Insight“ and „Operational Platforms“ that in turn are based on the network and IT infrastructure. This foundation of the business needs to be kept safe, resilient and operational by a critical „Systems of Trust“. However, the key success factors for these processes are traditional: developing of the culture and mindset, establishing processes and collaboration models, and making the transformation tangible, understandable and digestible for the most important asset - the people involved. This summary was written by Wolfgang Weber. ✉️ Interested readers are invited to contact us for further details and exchanges at office@bbl-group.eu. 🖥️ Check out our recent articles and external speakers here: https://bbl-group.eu/ --- Christoph Aeschlimann‘s professional life is ICT end to end. He held a couple of management positions, both in Switzerland and abroad, up to a CEO role in an international active software development company. In 2019 he joined Swisscom as CTO and CIO.

"If you control the standards, you control the technology, and if you control the technology, you control the world." Australia's 🇦🇺 influence in #GlobalTechPolicy is often underestimated, but its potential in #TechDiplomacy is immense. In my latest article, I delve into Professor Johanna Weaver's insights. As the Executive Director of the Tech Policy Design Centre at the The Australian National University University, she challenges us to embrace #ProductiveDiscomfort to foster collaboration between government and industry. ■ She questions why there is no research on best tech practices, urging us to lead rather than follow. ■ She highlights how distrust between government and industry cripples effective regulation, making trust mandatory. ■ She dispels the myth of a global tech framework, emphasizing that #Interoperability is our reality. Outdated laws can't handle modern tech; they must evolve or become obsolete. ■ The tension between #AUKUS and #Quad on technology transfer hinders true partnership, revealing how #innovation debates highlight a fractured industry needing a unified vision. Regarding the final point above, she says the standard narrative is disrupted when the two nations walk together with a common goal, making their position more powerful, attractive, and attainable. "We have to use partners," she says, "and part of the value of the Quad relationship is our differences." Read more on InnovationAus.com: https://lnkd.in/gpQdgD9U

Kickstart Europe is a wrap #kickstarteurope - what a fabulously event. Definitely going to come back next year! Well done guys. Some take away's as expected ontop of the great networking #networking . 1. Data Centre Image: It's evident that many people still view data centers as energy-guzzling 'things' with little regard for the environment (and 'ugly buildings' - watch the keynote speech for reference :)). By showcasing our commitment to sustainability and responsible practices, we can reshape the narrative surrounding data centers and highlight their role as enablers of digital innovation and progress. 2. AI is still a repeated 'catch-word': It is clear that data centre growth and the implementation of AI through its many ways (Large Language models etc.) is pushing the sector to new heights which non of us would have expected in that way. 3. Heat re-use: The element of circular economy is a big driver in the European Market place and rightly so! Advancements will continually be made and push new solutions, integration and expanding the horizon of possible partners to build commercial cases around it will elevate the industry further. 4. Skills shortage: The data center sector faces a significant skills shortage, hindering its growth and innovation. With increasing demand for specialized roles in areas like network engineering and cybersecurity, companies struggle to find qualified personnel. Addressing this gap requires targeted training programs and initiatives to attract and retain talent in the industry. There was obviously much more but we grow the list when DCW arrives next week. See you all there and reach out to catch up. All the best, Dan #datacenter #networking #amsterdam

This study, supported by the Project Liberty Institute (PLI), is the culmination of several months of dedicated work.🚀 Together with Fabien T., Project Manager at the Human Technology Foundation, we animated an international working group to explore the international landscape of digital identity systems. Our team included private sector leaders from Thales, Docaposte, McCarthy Tétrault, EY, as well as experts and regulators from #Europe and #NorthAmerica, such as CNIL and the ITechLaw Association network. 🔑Digital identity is a cornerstone for accessing the digital economy and public services, enabling the development of reliable and autonomous systems. This report delves into the ethical, regulatory, and socio-economic dimensions of these technologies, providing solutions to foster an open and inclusive digital economy. Our findings reveal specific unresolved challenges and offer targeted recommendations to enhance the reliability and user-centric nature of Digital ID systems. 🔍We enriched our conclusions through interviews with esteemed experts : Cédric O (Mistral AI), Fabrice Brunet (Quartier de l'innovation en santé de Montréal), Thomas Klein (Municipal Councillor at Ville de Suresnes), and Henri Verdier (Ambassador for Digital Affairs). The report is structured around four key themes, each with associated recommendations: ✅ Online protection of minors, ✅ Health, ✅ Electronic voting, ✅ and authentication of content created by generative AI systems. 📥 **Read the full report here** 👉 https://lnkd.in/eUrApJah I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member of our outstanding working group: Eric Salobir, Régis Chatellier, Raphaël de Cormis, Claire Godron, Candice Dauge, Joni Brennan, Pierre Roberge, Anne-Marie Hubert, C.M., FCPA, FCA, LLD, Thomas Klein, Marie Garnier, Paul Fehlinger, James "Jeb" Bell, Mathieu Desrosiers, and the InCyber Forum Canada. There's been talk recently about how councils and #highereducation organisations are facing similar challenges when it comes to transformation. Hence this is an interesting perspective from Timothy Spiers of Oxford City Council. "The real difficulty lies in transforming underlying processes and changing the way services are delivered." “What I'm saying is I believe technology is fairly straightforward. The harder part is getting from the current state to the future state.” #highereducationleadership #EdTech
