Mototok pushback @LHR for short-haul operations | Amazingly simple concept that shows how seemingly small initiatives can have big impacts on operational efficiency! - Oftentimes it’s the small changes that are right in front of us that can really make the difference to business performance. Embrace evolution and avoid costly revolutions that are demanded when we miss investing in such interventions early on!! Great stuff BA! #strategy #operationalefficiency

Fantastic to see British Airways in action supporting Heathrow’s net zero by 2050 goals. In Heathrow 2.0 (https://lnkd.in/ejPr-2VE) we committed to cutting carbon emissions by 87% from airport vehicles by 2030. Investing in electric or biofuel-powered vehicles goes a long way in helping us reach this goal. 👉 To read more about our progress on Heathrow 2.0, click here https://lnkd.in/efXBYiSa

It can be hard to avoid buzzwords in the #sustainability arena; they gain traction for a reason and at least start with real meaning. My favorite word that I haven’t been able to shake is "integration," which connects many of the themes and tips at this week’s Airports Going Green® and Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure conferences. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) discussed integrating sustainability requirements into their procurement processes, which signals a market shift and can spur airport service providers and vendors to think differently. The ISI keynote speaker spoke about sustainability integration into design standards, a (relatively) easy way to embed preparedness, climate mitigation, material reuse, and other priorities into projects. To avoid reinventing the wheel, many organizations are pointing to sustainability rating systems like #LEED and #Envision within these standards. (Thanks Chad Reese and Bridget Rief for a great Airports Council International - North America meeting on the topic!) These mechanisms are just two possibilities to reap multiple benefits with a single action. Looking forward to learning more with the rest of ISI’s conference, including Thursday’s airports session led by Erin Cooke and Melissa Targett!

The sheer number of initiatives to address the challenges of decarbonization in different infrastructure sectors can be difficult to keep on top of. One new initiative very much worth highlighting in the airports sector is the new decarbonization offering from C&S Companies and Steer.

Nature is no longer a corporate social responsibility issue, but a core and strategic risk management issue alongside climate change. A couple of weeks ago, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures released its set of recommandations and guidance for organisations: https://lnkd.in/gNFaaTqG This is not new for VINCI Airports since the promotion of nature and biodiversity is a part of our airports strategy: zero pesticide by 2025, various initiatives to promote wildlife, -50% per work load unit for water consumption by 2030. All the VINCI Airports finance teams are ready to embrace this challenge as we strongly believe in global performance. After TCFD, welcome TNFD! #PositiveMobility #TNFD #VINCIAirports
