Exciting news for Everett's Paine Field Airport! The Washington Air National Guard is transferring 14.3 acres of land to Snohomish County, a major boost for the region's aviation industry. This move, part of the National Defense Authorization Act, is set to create jobs, boost the economy, and improve infrastructure at Paine Field. Paine Field Airport has a rich history and currently houses Boeing's massive aircraft assembly plant, contributing over $60 billion annually to the economy and supporting 125,000 jobs. The transferred land, strategically located near the Boeing plant, will support aerospace manufacturing and foster the region's aerospace sector growth. Rep. Rick Larsen played a key role in securing this transfer, emphasizing its potential for job creation and economic opportunities. With limited space for expansion, these 14.3 acres offer a precious opportunity for development and improvement. Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers praised the transfer, highlighting its significance in enhancing the airport's role as a vital economic engine. The county's decision to rename the airport as Seattle Paine Field International Airport aims to raise its profile among travelers and compete with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. In summary, this land transfer is a major milestone for Paine Field Airport, demonstrating collaborative efforts to ensure its long-term growth and prosperity. As the aviation hub evolves, the potential for job creation, economic impact, and infrastructure enhancement is brighter than ever, solidifying Paine Field's position in the Pacific Northwest's aerospace industry. #smartcap #redmond #kirkland #bellevue #snohomishcounty #aviation #economicgrowth #painefieldairport

INVESTING IN AMERICA: Biden-Harris Administration Announces Major Airport Investments Amid Record-Breaking Air Travel Season Monday, July 1, 2024. WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is announcing a seventh round of Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) totaling $289 million to 129 airports across 40 states, improving the safety and efficiency of air travel. The projects are funded under President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s AIG program, part of the $25 billion in total funding for airport improvements such as terminal expansions, baggage system upgrades, runway safety enhancements, and air traffic infrastructure improvements. “Americans are flying in record numbers, and the Biden-Harris Administration continues to invest in our airports to make travel safer and more convenient for the people who pass through these airports each day,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “This latest round of funding will support key improvements to terminals, runways, and baggage systems and build on the work this Administration is doing to modernize our aviation infrastructure.” https://lnkd.in/evY6s7wu July 1, 2024.

Last week, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded $35 million to Dulles International Airport (IAD) to fund a portion of the construction of a 14-gate, 400,000 sq. ft. terminal building, including connections to the Aerotrain and Metrorail. This grant reflects the reality that Reagan National Airport (DCA) is small, space-constrained and over-crowded, whereas the much larger IAD is equipped to handle bigger planes and longer flights as the region’s “growth airport.” Each D.C. area airport must continue capitalizing on their complementary yet distinct strengths for the region’s airport system to remain viable. Experts like the FAA and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority agree that any changes to DCA’s slot and perimeter rules would throw off the careful operational and economic balance that underpins the region’s airport system: https://lnkd.in/ecqbZdtj.

My response to the RFI of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) on the development of a national strategy for Advanced Air Mobility #AAM. USDOT has formed an interagency working group (IWG) composed of multiple executive agencies to develop a national AAM strategy by 2024. I emphasized the need for the development of economic ecosystems based around AAM airports. The economic growth will also help increase the public acceptance of AAM. I cite examples in other states and how various federal economic programs - a few from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), can be adapted and extended. I substantiate my comment with numerous footnotes in my response document*. "There are over 5000 public-use airports in the US that may be suitable for transformation for AAM use. AAM airports cannot merely be viewed as a transportation hub – it can be much more. Given the proper infrastructure and supporting ecosystem for economic growth, it can evolve into a local or regional economic engine."* *Download Response Document RFI DOT-OST-2023-0079-0001 https://lnkd.in/ekt-8ykN Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development CBIA AdvanceCT Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) Capitol Region Council of Governments #AAM #AdvancedAirMobility #Aviation #EconomicPolicy #Ecosystems #Innovation #AerospaceTech #TechHartford

Since North Carolina hosted the first successful airplane flight in 1903, aviation has become a critical part of the state’s economy. Now, North Carolina is home to a total of 72 airports that contribute more than $72 billion in economic impact throughout the state, including 330,000 jobs, over $23 billion in personal income, and $3.7 billion in state and local tax revenues – with an industry average salary 25% higher than the state average. Regional airports play a critical role in the economies and lives of North Carolinians, 94% of whom live within a 30-minute drive of a public airport. Any changes to DCA's slot and perimeter rules threaten North Carolina's regional airports and the communities that rely on them. CPARA and its North Carolina members strongly oppose any changes to the rules, and hope Senators do the same. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYgVbnVS.

📍 In Strasbourg today, at the European Parliament, for the #ECAC's 42nd Plenary Triennial Session. Thank you to #ECAC's President Alessio Quaranta for leading this session, bringing together DGCA's Directors General and representatives from several key #aviation partners, such as #EASA, #ICAO, and #EU. In my speech, I highlighted once again the importance of working in partnership, within and beyond European boundaries, to tackle the major aviation challenges of today, be it #sustainability, #capacity, #weather disruptions, or #traffic growth in our already limited airspace. Today's society is demanding a lot from us, but I am deeply convinced the aviation world can deliver #together. Big thanks to the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) for their support & commitment.👏
