The Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) Community Relations team recently hosted two groups of young people for lunch and learn events at PHL. On July 16, Vice President of IT Systems & Infrastructure Camille Tomlin spoke to 20 campers and chaperones from the Boys & Girls Club of Chester. Department of Aviation staff volunteered for a garden clean up at the Boys and Girls Club this spring. Young women who attended Girls in Aviation Day hosted by the Department of Aviation at PNE in March entered a raffle for Lunch with a Leader at PHL. On July 19, the winners visited PHL for an Airport 101 presentation that provided an overview of the PHL ecosystem and Q & A session with Chief Development Officer Api Appulingam, P.E., A.A.E. Student visitors are treated to tours of the airport, including the popular ramp tower, where they have a bird's eye view of PHL. The Department of Aviation welcomes the opportunity to empower the next generation of aviation industry leaders. #PHLYouthDevelopment

Today the Department of Aviation interns and staff volunteered at the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy. Pegasus Academy is a non-profit organization in Northeast Philadelphia dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding programs and equine-assisted services (EAS) for children and adults with disabilities, diagnoses, and those in at risk populations. The DOA group assisted in various barn chores and clearing the grounds for maintenance.

We recently welcomed the newest La Colombe to PHL Airport in Terminal F with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This location features new menu items such as their draft oat latte and acai or banana bowls, be sure to check it out!
