A lot of game developers and VFX artists would fare so much better if they weren't being treated like they work in a sweatshop. I do understand that deadlines on projects exist but I see no reason to stir up stress and anxiety in people that are working hard to put out a product. Poor management and underlying greed is what causing so much turmoil in the game industry now. Instead of laying off artists and other important positions, game developers could spilt up groups of designers, engineers, and programmers into smaller projects. Not every game needs to be a graphical showpiece or a gigantic mountain of work. Think about games back in the day... they were ACTUALLY completely DONE and didn't require anything else. And they were simpler in scope. And the people making the games REALLY CARED about the work. A lot of us have passion for art and burning out artists and designers isn't helping. When we enjoy what we're working on and getting paid well, we produce at a higher quality.

Live is about making things happen! this Unreal engine game loop that I made from scratch years ago, got me the first opportunity in Game industry at a European videogame company. In that gorgeous team I learned a lot from so talented game developers, I am a filmmaker but also an engineer so I started as a Jr developer even thought at that point in my live, I had been directing a lot of 3d and live action stuff. The project director brought me in to the team as a creative, but I decide to put myself in an uncomfortable position and made the decision to star from a Jr position instead of as a Sr cinematic artist. Why? because I wanted to polish my game scripting skills to tell my own stories in a different way. When I was a teenager, I asked a famous filmmaker how to became a film director, he answered: just make a film and then you will be a filmmaker, years later I understood something about that magical phrase, if you really want to be something in live make that thinks happen.  Do you want to be a game developer? so develop a videogame, do you want to be and artist? do some artistic stuff. Hi everyone, I am working on a side project on unity and wanted to share it here. It's a level editor tool for my game, and it makes building levels way smoother. ➡ Each level is a grid of squares. Some are walls, other floor tiles. I plan on adding a few more tile types later on. ➡ The levels are saved as ScriptableObjects because they are persistent in the editor. I will find a way to store them in the build version, (the occasion for me to learn about save systems in Unity). ➡ Each tile of the grid is stored in a dictionary, with its position as key and the tile itself as value. This way I can display the grid by instantiating each tile at its stored position, and editing the grid is super fast. ➡I also made my editor interface completely modular: I just have to add a new tile in the editor script, and a new button will be dynamically added. ➡ As a game designer, this tool will help me create levels faster. It was also an opportunity for me to learn a bit more about unity. There is still a long journey ahead of me! The project will be added to my portfolio when its done. Created a small level in Unreal Engine, and tried to represent an abandoned forest colony near the lake. Created entirely in Unreal Engine, using a combination of assets from Quixel, Epic Marketplace, and Sketchfab. To optimize the scene, I used procedural content generation (PCG) instead of traditional foliage and implemented material blending for the landscape. 551 Days Later… My Unreal Engine Audio Journey 551 days ago, I took a leap into a new direction and began exploring Unreal Engine, specifically #Metasounds. Mainly because I wanted to get better at implementing Sound Design SFX for my contract projects… never knowing what would lie ahead.
