"Safety is our first topic of conversation. We discuss safety every day in our meeting routines with our management and with my team," shares Alexandre Renard, next in line for our #BrenntagPioneers series. At our site in Montville in France, Alexandre works as Logistics Assistant and is dedicated to ensuring the reliability of our inventory. "I started at Brenntag 8 years ago, beginning as a Formulation & Solution blending operator before transitioning to a forklift driver and team lead role in the shipment warehouse to lately stepping in as a deputy for our warehouse manager." With a focus on #safety, Alexandre leads by example, ensuring that every aspect of our operations prioritizes the safety of our team and business partners. Enjoying adventurous hobbies like motorcycling, he highlights the importance of always sticking to the safety rules. Alexandre is a strong promoter of open communication and clarity as he sees it essential in achieving joint goals. "When everyone understands their role and communicates openly, we can find sustainable solutions to challenges," he emphasizes. “Alone you go fast, together you go far”. How this team philosophy paves the way to excellence, he could experience for himself: In 2023, the Montville site received the Brenntag Phoenix Safety Award, recognizing the site’s outstanding safety performance improvement. "Through a strong collaboration across teams to improve traffic management at our site, we were also able to identify and implement solutions to enhance safety and efficiency in our loading zone," Alexandre explains. On Brenntag’s 150-year legacy, he adds: "I find it impressive how we managed the change at our site and at Brenntag overall in the last years, with safety always being our top priority." I love being a parts technician.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝘀. 💔 But.. it's probably not why you'd think. Us? Me and my female assistant superintendent. We spent a LOT of time out on the floor. We had a huge department to cover... 2 hardwood lines, 2 recycle plants, a woodyard. I could still navigate that place with my eyes closed. We'd text them, "Take a vibe check on XYZ equipment... starting to sound a little off." It was a game to us.. 😈 How many could we spot a defect in? With just our senses - just by being observant? Time after time, they'd end up on the P1 list. ❌ Bad motor. Failing rotating assembly. Pump coming apart. That wasn't necessarily in our job descriptions... We had a whole department dedicated to equipment reliability. But if you're a leader, especially in manufacturing.. You know. That equipment is YOURS. You own them. The sounds they make? You should be intimately familiar with. The way those motors feel? You should know it in your bones. Does that sound hard to you? Like a lot of work? It's actually not. 𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. To block off time, get out of your office, and walk. Feel. Listen. Send a text. Ask your operators. Maybe you're not the department manager... Maybe you're a brand new process engineer, or somewhere in between. But you can do this too. 𝗜𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱. Tricks like this make you indispensable. They make you a shoo-in for promotions. Discipline. Ownership. The occasional tasteful brag. Taking a break from the silly videos to put something out here with a little substance to it ... Recently, we created a Technician Advisory Council (TAC) here for the stores in the Lafayette, IN region. To join the TAC, all you had to have was the desire to be an active participant. That said, the TAC is a mixed bag of Master Technicians all the way down to lube techs which gives us a really diverse perspective of views and opinions to improve our operations at the Rohrman Automotive Group. I'm excited to introduce the first completed initiative which was to create a "one-pager" pre-diagnostic worksheet for the advisors to fill out with customers that will 1. build value in the diagnostic process 2. provide information for the technicians to make a more efficient/complete diagnosis. The results have been amazing! 1. Customer Experience has improved because we are getting the information up front, eliminating the back and forth. We also have limited the complaints about the diagnostic charge because this process is building value 2. We are becoming more profitable by not having to waive diagnostic fees because of "lack of communication" of the charges upfront by advisors. 3. Our technicians are happy because they receive a lot of information that helps them be more efficient and accurate in their diagnostic process. 4. The TAC members have a great sense of pride for being the ones who put this together and now seeing it implemented in their stores! Along with this diagnostic worksheet, the TAC prepared a document that specifically categorized 5 diagnostic levels and their associated operations, flat rate times, and charges to the customer.
