Coming out of #dpharm2023 left me amazed how many say “Pharma sponsors should just do <insert wisdom here> and everything would be better?” That line mostly comes from those who have not worked in pharma/biotech. Brad’s cartoon reminds me how many say the some about what sites should do, what tech should do, what patients should do. It pulls me back to a Trialbee webinar with Matt Walz early this week where a consistent theme was EMPATHY. At one point I tried to bring more empathy into a company. People reacted like I was accusing them of being psychopaths when I suggested we work on empathy. Empathy isn’t just saying you consider others. It’s putting yourself in the shoes of others and fully understanding their position and perspective.

Suggestions for hybrid conferences? Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science has been hybrid for the last couple of years, and we like that hybrid conferences are affordable and inclusive. But we'd like to improve. As a very interactive conference, we need people to be able to do more than listen to a speaker. They need to be able to work together and get work done. Some ideas: -- Online-only days and in-person only days -- Online only but host several local hubs where people can gather to be online together -- Sessions designated as online only What have you done to include both on-site and off-site people in conferences?

Held on Saturday 20th April 2024, this year's keynote is from Professor Charles Perfetti - Progress in Reading Science and its Uneven Impact on Practice As a run-up to the conference day we are making all six seminars available to all delegates THREE weeks in advance, so you have the opportunity to watch them all before the day and submit questions to be put to the speakers in LIVE Q&A sessions in the afternoon of the conference. The seminars will not be shown live at the conference, but our speakers will be present at the event on the 20th for live Question Time panel sessions with delegates.
