What an amazing past week it has been! I got to share the launch of GoDaddy Airo, our new generative AI-powered solution in Canada! Reflecting on the advancements in technology, I am reminded of the incredible journey my parents took when they immigrated to Canada from Korea in the 70s to start a small business. It's truly remarkable to see how far we have come since then. Recently, my 81-year-old father asked me to explain what GoDaddy offers (a question he asks me often as technology is harder for him to understand 😅), and each time I explain how we help small businesses get started online with domain names, website building tools, and professional email services. Using GoDaddy Airo, rather than trying to explain, I was able to directly show him how his past business name could be transformed into a fully branded online presence, leaving him in awe of the possibilities that technology offers today (Hey, I got to show off!). It was a moment. This experience made me think about how access to technology like GoDaddy Airo could have transformed my parents' small business back in the day. I'll admit I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to domain names. I've got 100+ in my GoDaddy account. Over the years, I've made mistakes and scored some winners. And through it all, I've stuck to a tried-and-true formula. First and foremost, keep it short and sweet. The less typing, the better. When it comes to extensions, .com is king. For tech-related ventures, .io is a solid choice. But steer clear of the rest - .biz, .loans, .net? No thanks. Trust me, people will default to .com, and you don't want them landing on a competitor's site. Numbers and letters can be tricky too. Avoid using "4" instead of "for," "2" instead of "to," or "u" instead of "you." Unless you own all the variations, it's just asking for trouble. Every bit of friction means lost opportunities and traffic. You might not even realize it's happening, but it is. So, keep it simple, straightforward, and .com whenever possible. And make sure it's relevant to your business. If you've got a unique last name, resist the urge to make it your primary domain. You can point it to your main site but don't rely on it as your main online address. GoDaddy shares have skidded in extended trading after the web hosting company missed second-quarter earnings expectations.  The company posted earnings of $0.54 per share, down from $0.56 a year earlier and short of Street expectations of $0.57. Revenue was $1.05 billion, up 2.9% year-over-year and below estimates of $1.06 billion.  Shares of GoDaddy tumbled 6.8% to $70.60 in extended trading.  Looking ahead, GoDaddy CEO Aman Bhutani spoke to the potential of artificial intelligence to drive growth.  "Our mission at GoDaddy – to empower entrepreneurs everywhere, making opportunity more inclusive for all – is getting an unprecedented boost by AI technology," Bhutani said in a statement.  "For the first time, we can bundle domains with an increasing array of AI-powered capabilities that help small businesses quickly overcome administrative burdens, attract new customers and focus on growth.” More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/awVz104Qe4E #NYSE #GDDY

Some of the posts I read last Thursday included 'stocks won't go any higher'. GoDaddy printed a new all-time high on Friday. lol. These individuals are now... On the wrong side of the market forever. But the internet being the internet And these finfluencers assuming the generational population can be fooled They will be back to being 'bullish' on Monday. I brought GDDY to your attention in November when it entered Phase 4 and first started printing new all-time highs. It has since climbed 35%. GoDaddy lures with an unbeatable price of €0.18 first year. But there is a 3-year lock-in. And the price in following years is not as attractive ;) For 3 yrs, it comes to €40.50 Name.com, on the other hand, offers a reasonable discount for the first year. And no long-term commitment. For 3 yrs, it comes to €44.05 Looks like the first year heavy discount tilts the balance in favor of Godaddy. However, as I go to next step, Name.com offers further discount, and for a 3-yr period the cost is actually €38.30 instead of €44.05 as calculated from the first screen pricing. Interesting play, right? Let's explore this: In most cases, users will find themselves in one of the following two situations: 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐀: Users have a business idea they want to test. So, will most likely book the domain for only a year (the test period). Since GoDaddy offers €0.18 only on a binding 3-year contract, they lose. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐁: Users have a solid idea they are confident in and do not mind booking the domain for a longer period, let's say 5 years. In this scenario, GoDaddy loses again because while the user will pay the same to both companies for the first 3 years, subsequent periods with GoDaddy are more expensive. 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐃𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?
