After 8 and a half years, my time at Facebook/Meta has come to an end. I am so grateful for the journey and the amazing people I met there. FB was my first job out of college. I came in as a wide-eyed entry-level engineer and learned so so much along the way… from excellent mentors who I was lucky to work with. I spent about half the time in engineering and half the time in engineering management, eventually supporting an org of 3 teams. At every step along the way, through wonderful times and tough times, it was the bonds and collaborations with colleagues that made the experience incredibly fulfilling. In particular I want to shout-out the Video Infra organization where I dwelt for 8 years, going deep into the videos & creation space. We helped launch Live, LiveWith, Stories and Reels, across Facebook and Instagram, and contributed to VR/AR products as well. Video Engineering is like a tight-knit community within the larger technology sector, full of very passionate people. I have fond memories from the conferences and multi-company meetings, where the priority was always advancing the state of video streaming technology by sharing as many learnings as possible between companies. I myself presented talks at several of those conferences. Although my amazing colleagues made this a tough decision, I knew I would need to diversify my experiences and broaden my career horizons. Everyone I’ve talked with has agreed that a broader perspective will be helpful for me down the road. So as grateful as I am to Meta, it is time for me to move on. I will be starting at Figma on Monday, as an Engineering Manager. I couldn’t be more excited! The more I learn about Figma and its mission to make design collaborative and accessible, I get more and more amped. Expect to hear more about that soon. To my Meta colleagues, we’ve already said goodbye, but I am looking forward to staying in touch, here on LinkedIn or in real life. Take care everyone!!
