This should be a KPI for all employees

Unexpected tip in the bagging area :) But there is a serious question here: what could delight a customer in an automated business transaction? Smooth outcome? Surely that's expected. Excellent quality and swift service? That too should be expected. A personal touch? 🤔

Absolutely! Meeting forts sound like a fantastic way to make the office environment more fun and engaging. Not only would they provide a cozy and comfortable space for meetings, but they could also help to foster creativity and collaboration among team members. Imagine how much more productive and enjoyable meetings would be if we had the option to gather in a fort-like setting. It would definitely add an element of excitement and novelty to the typical office routine. Moreover, meeting forts could also serve as a great conversation starter and icebreaker, allowing colleagues to bond over shared experiences within these unique spaces. They could even become a symbol of our company culture - creative, innovative, and always thinking outside the box. Of course, it's important to consider practicality and ensure that these meeting forts are designed with functionality in mind. They should be equipped with all the necessary amenities for productive discussions, such as whiteboards or screens for presentations. Overall, I believe that introducing meeting forts to the office environment could have numerous benefits.

I love the self check out cartoon below…I laughed out loud when seeing it. The tipping debate continues…. Working inside and alongside a variety of hospitality industries and professionals I have heard and seen it all. More importantly I always am a customer first. I see that making our guest feel comfortable and welcomed and appreciated - this includes during payment. Allowing someone to leave a gratuity is nice for those who want to express their thanks. Imposing a tip at every turn and one which seems excessive for simple purchases or transactions has been a sticking point for the industry post covid. Moving forward we need to keep discussing and listening to our guests. I believe keeping tips as an option when we provide a service, kindness and care for our guest allows them to express their thanks. Consider options that are not set in at standard % or $ amounts that don’t represent the environment. Speak with POS companies and devise new options or methods for tips when paying with card / Apple Pay. Train team to understand that tipping is not guaranteed nor should be expected. Train them to make customers feel comfortable during the transaction - simply offering first the option to skip making it “OK” will create less tension or uncomfortable feeling when paying. I love to make someone’s time during their visit feel seen and welcomed as well as appreciated. I also know as a customer that is what I desire. I enjoy paying it forward and tipping and want to be able to do this when I can as well as when I want - like at a coffee shop. Restaurants or Cafes I enjoy tipping well for their hard work.

I accidentally cut off a piece of my index finger last weekend, and it has been quite a challenging situation for me. At first, I thought I had lost my hand and would be without mobility for weeks. The pain and frustration of the new situation are difficult, but I have come to realize one thing: I have a little finger that I didn't value before, but now I see that it can perform many of the same tasks as my other finger. This situation made me think about our teams. Some team members may be like index fingers, pointing the way and doing the hard work. However, team members may also be like little fingers, not necessarily useless but not used to their full potential. Here are some facts that I discovered: When we extend our fingers, our little finger is pulled back by a separate tendon and muscle, while a common tendon and muscle pull back the other three fingers. The thumb has two muscles of its own and shares a muscle group with the little finger. So, it's important to remind ourselves that these little fingers could be more qualified than the others and could help us out when one of the others is out. Thursday Thoughts... Let's talk about keyboard warriors for a minute. You know, those folks who seem to have an opinion on everything and aren't shy about sharing it, often behind the anonymity of a screen. Now, don't get me wrong, sharing ideas, perspectives, and beliefs can be a beautiful thing. It's how we learn, grow, and connect with others. Consider the impact of your words and whether they're fostering understanding or just adding fuel to the fire. Let's strive for discourse that's not just loud, but meaningful.
