Pick Up Tags: Visit The Vault or The Bridge Fellowship to select specific children and pick up tags for your shoeboxes. 2. Buy the Shoes: Purchase durable, comfortable, name-brand tennis shoes or sneakers. Avoid sandals or dress shoes. 3. Deliver the Shoes: Attach the tag to the top of the shoebox without covering the size and return it to your collection site. Shoe Requirements We’re asking for high-quality, casual, name-brand tennis shoes or sneakers. No sandals or dress shoes, please. These shoes will be worn daily, so they need to be durable and comfortable. What are Name-Brand Shoes? Brands like Nike, New Balance, Under Armour, and Converse are perfect. The kids look forward to receiving these special shoes, which they can proudly wear to school. Together, We Can Make a Difference! Couple of years back while searching for some footwear on Google, I saw a peculiar ad by a company whose headline read ‘We’re in business to improve lives’. With my curiosity kicking in, I started browsing about the company. In the process, stumbled upon one of the pioneering startups that has successfully married profit with purpose. This is the story of TOMS Shoes. In 2002, Blake Mycoskie was volunteering in Argentina for a shoe distribution event. There he saw a lot of children who didn’t have footwear and was quite moved by their daily struggles. To solve this problem, he developed a simple slip-on shoe that was popular in Argentina and took them to the North American market. The unique selling point was one for one model : For each pair of TOMS Shoes sold, it gave a free pair to a child in need. Over the past 18 years, TOMS has donated close to 100 million shoes. This unique business model was the primary branding story for the company in a cluttered footwear market. Over the years, it has branched out to selling eyewear, apparels and coffee. But it has retained the essence of giving back to the community in the form of free clothes, eye checkup etc. Though TOMS has often faced criticism for disrupting the local economy by giving freebies, for me it remains one of the most inspiring cases of business done differently. Where profit and purpose co-exist. P.S - 'Start something that matters' is the autobiography of TOMS founder and one of the best books I have read on purpose driven businesses.

My journey began with a passion for creativity and a deep desire to carve my own path in the world of business. As a young entrepreneur, I had always been drawn to the elegance and intricacy of jewelry. Armed with determination and a keen eye for design, I launched my own jewellery brand. The initial days were challenging, filled with late nights, sourcing precious gemstones, and building relationships with artisans who could bring my visions to life. In less than 6 months, I started to get recognition but covid struck and all my channels started to narrow down, my artisans had to pick different fields to sustain themselves. As time passed, I felt a yearning for something more. I found myself captivated by the artistry displayed in women's footwear . The way each pair of shoes told a story and elevated an outfit inspired me to consider a new venture. I was ready to take a leap of faith and pivot my business. Switching from jewellery to footwear was not without its challenges. The intricacies of shoe design were vastly different from those of jewellery, and I needed to immerse myself in this new world to truly understand its nuances. Just as I had done in my previous venture, I started from scratch. I studied shoe design, materials, and manufacturing processes. I reached out to the industry experts and spent hours sketching and conceptualizing. With time, my persistence paid off. I launched my line of women's footwear, ELAAR. Each pair of shoes was a canvas through which I expressed my creativity, just as I had with jewellery. The journey from jewelry to women's footwear taught me invaluable lessons. I learned the importance of adaptability, of embracing change even when it seems daunting. I discovered that creativity is a versatile tool that can be applied to different mediums. 🤦♂️ When somebody put a hole in the top of my boots I was devastated! My foot wasn't the best either but it presented me with an opportunity...👇 I've always admired footwear and liken them to backpacks in a lot of ways... 👉 They're Fabric based with complex patterning, use moulded components, foams, laminations, the list goes on! So when somebody ruined my boot (and foot) I took the opportunity to learn. Scalpel in hand, I deconstructed the other boot. ✅ Sometimes the best way to learn is through REVERSE ENGINEERING. With a fully assembled product it's often not obvious the workmanship and design that went into them... ...this is especially true with backpacks! Like footwear, backpacks are very complex things, whilst on the face of it they're 'just a bag.' (Make's my blood boil that one 😂) ✅ By deconstructing a product, you get a better understanding of the mechanics of it and the design decisions that have been made... The expertise of the people who made them is clear to see... Since then, they’ve worked on six different models together, brainstormed more than 100 colorways, and most important, have forged one solid relationship. It’s not uncommon for Amy to get a text from Jayson, day or night, about a wild new colorway idea. What does she think? Can the team make it happen?
