In our fast-paced world, it's not always easy to spot when someone is going through a tough time. The Norwich City Football Club reminds us to check in on those around us, as sometimes the signs of struggling are not obvious. Society and work often demand functionality, creating a culture where the speed of healing or the appearance of being okay takes precedence over genuine well-being. At work, time constraints can make it challenging to address personal struggles adequately. While therapy provides a valuable resource for navigating individual challenges, talking to a friend who listens without imposing advice can also make a significant difference. It's important to understand that every struggle is unique and recognize that there's no one-size-fits-all solution. Taking the time to truly listen when someone says they're not okay can be a powerful way to offer support. Consider the courage it takes for someone to ask for help or express that they are struggling. So, let's break the societal norm of avoiding difficult conversations. Ask the simple question, "How are you?" and be prepared to listen, whether the response is positive or a silent plea for understanding. Today, I want to shift gears and talk about something that's crucial but often overlooked: mental health. In the fast-paced world of business, we get so caught up in goals, projects, and deadlines that we can easily forget to check in on each other’s well-being. I’m sure you’ve all seen this video on your feed, maybe you took a few minutes to watch it, if you haven’t please do. It’s hard but very thought provoking. Remember, not everyone who's struggling shows it on the surface. It takes just a moment to ask, "How are you doing, really?" That simple question could be a lifeline for someone who's going through a hard time but doesn’t know how to reach out. It's important to reinforce that it's okay to not be okay. Life throws curveballs, and no one is expected to hit a home run every time. If you're struggling, talk about it. If you're in a position to help, lend an ear. Take care of yourselves and each other. Let's normalise discussing mental health. It matters just as much as any business objective we strive to achieve. #youarenotalone #itsOkNotToBeOk #MentalHealth
