𝐀𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝: 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐫 What an amazing Saturday yesterday!! Couldn’t have called for more: first India beating South Africa in the finals to be the ICC T20 world champions in a nail biting finish. Congrats to #𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 for winning the #𝐈𝐂𝐂𝐭𝟐𝟎𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐜𝐮𝐩. And to top it off, we hosted 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐫, the cricketing legend to celebrate the occasion! As an avid cricket fan (& a former cricket player), it was an honor to host cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar at our home in support of Heart to Heart Foundation (https://lnkd.in/gxF7Zw4w), which provides free heart surgeries to kids and also free medical education in rural areas. Sunil Ji is one of cricket’s greatest opening batsmen of all time. He skillfully captained the Indian Cricket team in 47 Test matches and dominated the game during his 16-year career of 125 Test matches. Highlights include: 34 Test centuries, an unbroken world record for 19 years until 2005, and the first-ever player to score 10,000 runs in test matches. Sunil Ji was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame in 2009, using his immense cricketing acumen as a highly popular sports media columnist, a well-respected television commentator, a reputed author, and a role model for youth. Sunil Ji also chairs the Heart to Heart Foundation which focuses on rural healthcare, specifically on providing free heart surgeries for children with congenital heart defects, mostly from poor rural families. Heart to Heart Foundation is now supporting India’s first FREE rural medical college (in Karnataka), to create a new generation of doctors and nurses who will work in rural areas and help address the critical shortage of medical professionals in rural India. For entrepreneurs navigating today’s markets, here are some learnings I want to share from my conversation with Sunil Ji yesterday: be fearless by facing the fiercest fast bowlers without a helmet, have patience and perseverance to bat till the end, have discipline and dedication by having unwavering commitment to practice and fitness, demonstrate resilience and perform consistently in tough situations, lead by example and always trust your team, be nimble and always be willing to adapt, handle pressure and stay calm, respect your opponents, be a continuous learner, and always remain humble and grounded. In summary, it was a real honor to host one of my idols: Mr. Sunil Gavaskar and to be able to help with the philanthropic cause of the Heart to Heart Foundation.

I met Mr Gavaskar back in 2005 along with Sachin Tendulkar at the Mohali cricket stadium when they were discussing the concept of IPL. These are true visionaries. I still remember listening to cricket commentary and watching the Indian cricket team win the World Cup in 1983. They played fearlessly under the captaincy of a very young Kapil Dev. It changed how Indians viewed themselves forever. If you want to change the world, dream big, be fearless and be patient. Excellent advice.

India for the win + time with the legend - a heavenly weekend for cricket lovers like you!

Brilliant! India played a great tournament and were well deserved winners. Bumrah may be the best bowler of this generation and it was a delight to see India play live this summer. Great to see Sunil doing so much for the community and for being a great human as well as a great sport.
