National Basketball Association (NBA)’s Post

Jerry West, a defining figure of the NBA for over 60 years, passed at the age of 86 this week. West was a basketball genius. He distinguished himself not only as an NBA champion and an All-Star in all 14 of his playing seasons, but also as a consummate competitor who embraced the biggest moments. He was the league’s first NBA Finals MVP and made rising to the occasion his signature quality, earning him the nickname ‘Mr. Clutch’. He will be enshrined this October into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor, becoming the first person ever inducted as both a player and a contributor.

As a Knicks fan in the 70s, I always feared going up against the Jerry West Lakers. He was always a factor to be dealt with, consistent team player and leader, and just a joy to watch and learn the game from - the right way. RIP Logo!

To his family & closest - your legacy is eternal Mr Jerry West, & the League will miss you. More than everything, I'll remember how you've always connected to the newer generations. You always were a mentor to the younger rockstars, and as per example, your bonds with Kobe Bryant were the most blatant example. Sincerely to his closest, from the heart, from France.

Imagine Jerry West with a three point line and a spread floor as is common today in the NBA!

Arguably the most integral individual in terms of success on and off the court in the history of professional basketball. And that’s in addition to him being the logo

What A True Basketball Icon! RIP Jerry 🙏 #Foreever44 Thank You!! 🏀 🏀 🏀 🏀 #WVU

National Basketball Association (NBA) logo was adopted from him, he scouted Kobe Bryant & brought him to Lakers. Tribute should be grand.
