Incredibly strong finish to the year, with Australia odds-on to crack 1.2m vehicles sold for the first time. Big questions though about what happens next, as OEMs exhaust their outstanding order book and consumers tuck away their wallets. Also plenty to pull apart when you look under the hood, with continuing back and forth between EV and hybrid, new power trains coming into the light commercial market (even if only in small numbers), and more Australians considering plug-in hybrids as a viable alternative. Stay tuned for next month where we recap the annual results, and also look back to see how accurate our vehicle sales forecasts were, and where we missed! Huge numbers in the November VFACTS data, with 112,141 new vehicle sales, making it the second highest month of the year behind the EOFY-backed June. This places the 1.2m yearly sales mark squarely in sight, with just over 80,000 required in December. As context, 2021 (78,402 sales) is the only year in the past decade to fall below that mark, making it appear likely! https://lnkd.in/gSE5bXnX
