🚨 There’s a *dirty practice* virtually everyone in PR is experiencing right now that sucks to talk about: Ghosting 👻 Does this sound familiar? 👇 ✔️You think you have a deal. ✔️You put together a contract. ✔️You assemble the right team. ✔️You update forecast numbers. And then… … …. you literally never hear from the prospect again. Like, ever. Ever, ever, ever. 🦗 🦗🦗 That’s happened a couple times at Crackle PR lately, and it shocks me to my core every time 😮 Zero explanation. Zero professional courtesy. Zero empathy for hours we wasted. And when you have an audience like I have, it’s sometimes tempting to call them out publicly. To show their peers who they really are. 😠 But then I’d be sinking to their level. And that’s not how *I* roll. So instead I’ll just say this: Ghosting people is senselessly cruel. And cowardly. We’re grown-ass adults. We can take a “no.” Don’t leave people twisting in the wind because you don’t have the courage to give hard news. Not knowing is infinitely worse. Read that again 👆 Thanks for listening, and sorry if you’ve been burned lately, too. Onward and upward! This is the way ✊ #publicrelations #noghosting

Ready to Step Into The Spotlight? ⚡ Specialist PR for Attractions, Hospitality, The Arts & Municipal Governments | President @PinzurPR 📣 Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami
Stop talking about yourself. Imagine this: You’re at dinner with someone new and not once does the person ask about you. The entire dinner conversation is all about them. Does this sound familiar? This happens to be one of my biggest pet peeves. And I can guarantee you that a “me, me, me” pitch is a journalist’s pet peeve too. So before you make your next media pitch all about you, remember these 10 tips: 1. Be a storyteller, not a self-promoter. 2. Show genuine interest in the other person’s work. 3. Do your homework and tailor your pitch to the media outlet and its audiences. 4. Show, don't just tell, your value. 5. Remember, it's about building relationships, not just pushing your agenda. 6. Know when to listen as much as when to speak. 7. Be authentic, not just polished. 8. Keep it concise, nobody has time for a novel. 9. Quality over quantity, always. 10. And lastly, be memorable for the right reasons. PS. What’s one of your biggest pet peeves? Share in the comments below. We could all use a good laugh. 🤣 #PublicRelations #MediaRelations

Creativity. It's often lacking in corporate culture, where many people speak an artificial language with no wit or soul. Thankfully, that's not always the case! Whoever came up with this ad is hilarious and creative, and I'll bet it attracted top, top, TOP talent. Who wouldn't want to work for whoever thought of this ad? They clearly value creativity and humor. This is not the product of a stressed workplace. This is the output of someone who loves what they do and wants to attract like-minded people. More ads and job postings like this one, please!

Signature Leadership Video Content and Campaigns That Showcase Your Impact, Protect Your Reputation and Acquire Leads at Scale | Our 4-Step ABCS Process takes your impact from overlooked to in demand online in 90 days
🤔 What career path do you take to meet Oprah? I'll share mine. It sounds crazy, but let me explain. In 2017, I left my job as a Lead IT Recruiter after 3 years. In 2017, I got a Digital Media Buyer job at a top Charlotte digital agency scaling up crowdfunding Facebook Ad campaigns. I leveraged my prior Final Cut Pro X editing skills and got really good at repurposing long form video into cost-per-click dropping short form videos for full funnel campaigns. In 2017, I left that job and started an event video + social media business. (with a new 3 month old and wife who probably thought I was crazy lol) In 2019, I was in a room here in Charlotte producing an interview of Oprah Winfrey. Many people have the right skills, but they are in the wrong room. Someone who sees your current job title, but doesn't see your fullness as person will always think your moves outside of that title are crazy. This is why I've never moved based on others opinions of me. Here's what I did in a 5 step process 1. Identify where you are and what's required to get to the next level 2. Equip yourself with the proper training and mentorship 3. Jump into the "pool" of the results producing real work 4. Don't be surprised with your plan works 5. Repeat It's important to proactively seek out spaces that value and appreciate your unique qualities, rather than those that challenge them without justification. #shareyourstory #myjourney #different #2024 #goals #goalsetting #mentalhealth #careerdevelopment #career

⚠️WAIT!!! YOU DEFINITELY NEED THIS BEFORE THE INTERVIEW !! ⚠️ 🧰Imagine you're in the🔥 hot seat, facing the interviewer's keen eyes, and they hit you with that classic question: "Can you introduce yourself?" 🤔 The first option that pops up in your mind is to dive into your experience, right? Sharing those stories about your past achievements, the challenges you've overcome, and the skills you've honed. (YOUR PROUD STORY) 🌟BUT WAIT, HOLD ON! After all, is this interview to test your ability or your ability to help their company? Be SMART ppl. What to prioritize? Rather than saying, I am good at this N that, tell them I have this ability which I can use to help with your company goals. ⏩ Let me give an EXAMPLE:⏩ 🎯Version 1: "Hi, I'm John. I have a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and I've been working in marketing for 7 years. I've managed social media campaigns, designed ads, and created content. With a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and 7 years of experience, I'm excited to be here. I've seen that your company is all about innovation and customer engagement, which aligns perfectly with my background. I recently led a campaign in my previous role that boosted customer engagement by 20%. This experience affirmed my belief in data-driven strategies to connect with customers, a key element in your company's vision. My skills in social media and content creation make me a great fit to take your marketing to the next level, and I'm eager to help you become the most customer-centric brand in our industry. Today, Knack turns lucky #7! And while there’s a fair share of luck involved in PR, it’s taken a whole lot of focus, hard work and encouragement to get here. Back in 2017 when I saw my employer post my job while I was still doing it, I never would have thought that my spur of the moment decision to start my own business would last this long or be so fulfilling. I’ve learned so much in these 2,550 days of building Knack and being my own boss. Let’s see if I can lower the learnings down to 7: 1) Just like the brands we work with, days can be filled with high highs and frustrating lows. Keep your feathers unruffled. 2) Don’t take it personally when people ask “how’s your little business going?” It may be little in employee count, but it’s big in achieving my own goals. 3) When you’re in client service, it all boils down to people! Work with kind people who trust your expertise. The combo can be hard to come by, but they exist + it's worth saying no to those you don’t jive with to wait for the keepers. 4) Don’t consider everyone who does what you do competition… instead, they can be your best supporters - and you theirs. Find people who are also masters of your craft that want you to win, and ride the roller coaster together. 5) Go with your gut. Your instincts are usually right — trust them! 6) Your excitement is contagious… but you can’t genuinely be excited about everything. Get giddy when something is truly awesome, and be honest when something is more of a checked box. Otherwise you’ll lose trust of the client who relies on your knowledge to know what to do with your strategic results. 7) Don’t sacrifice your business for someone else’s… that means staying true to your rates, not overextending your bandwidth, staying in scope… you can stay within your guardrails and still be an above-and-beyond partner. That’s a wrap on 7 in 7! And with that, happy Knack-iversary to my little PR biz!!

Creator of Roar! Training and Confidence Live, Europe’s Biggest Confidence Conference | Trained 50,000+ to be More Confident | Award-Winning Leadership Trainer | Named "Most Inspiring" Speaker
I just got a message saying “someone sent me a slide from one of your talks earlier and now I want to be your best friend”. This was the slide 😂 BUT WHAT AM I REFERENCING?! I LOVED the talk I delivered today. I have so much conviction in how genuinely important and valuable it is. The talk is about how to connect better with audiences (be those audiences on social media, in boardrooms or on stages, same same). In the talk I play a game of true or false with the audience. One of the questions is: TRUE OR FALSE: do people listen to you when you’re presenting to them? And this was my, somewhat mischievous answer. People listen to you for a HOT SECOND, sizing you up, making a call whether to disengage or not. In standup, this is called “good will”. You have the good will of your audience for a short time before you have to start really earning it. So, when we work to the assumption that: ✅ People AREN’T automatically listening to you ✅ Your content is boring ✅ Key points are going to get missed while your audience thinks about what they’re eating later It’s makes us work HARDER at commanding attention. It makes us think more about connecting with people. It makes us delight our audiences with our messages. And it makes people who weren’t even at the talk want to second hand be your best friend. What a joy. Thank you Plexal for having me. (If anybody wants to learn how to get really good at creating impactful presentations you know where I am 🤩)
