How can embracing servant leadership transform not only your personal growth but also the legacy you leave behind?
My conversation with Oakland McCulloch on the Play Your Position Podcast revolves around the importance of legacy and servant leadership, with a focus on personal growth, self-discipline, and reflection.
Oak is passionate about helping leaders prioritize personal growth, develop good habits and character, and intentionally live a positive legacy through conscious decisions and actions.
Oak and I also discuss various challenges leaders face today, including:
-Micromanaging
-Disconnection with the younger generation, and
-Online meanness, bullying, and the rampant prevalence of cancel culture
What I love about Oak is his commitment to leading by example. He is down-to-earth, practical, and genuine. Our conversation is too rich to capture in its entirety here, so I recommend listening to it in its entirety on your favorite podcast platform.

True influence begins with being true to yourself. If you're leading others, remember: shape-shifting can be a slippery slope.
It's just as crucial when you're charting your own career path.
Transforming into a character who leads change in an organisation, your community, or the world can be an energy-draining, potentially burnout-inducing endeavor.
If you've felt like you're playing a role at work, rather than being yourself...
I've been there.
And I've studied how to discover what really drives you and help you do the difficult work of leading change without losing yourself in the process.
Whether you're stepping into a new leadership role, running your own business, or at a point where you need others to help build your vision, you'll find there's no "one-size-fits-all" answer; only what it true to you.
Stay tuned for how I propose we get you started on discovering this.

Acting Is NOT Pretending Or Lying
Acting differs from pretending and lying in its Intent, Context, Relational Dynamics and Behaviour
***Acting***
Intent: Actors portray characters to convey a story, aiming to entertain, inform, or evoke specific responses. Acting is about honesty and truthful behavior.
Context: It is a performance art form with a scripted or improvised structure within the context of a play, film, or other mediums.
Relational Dynamics: The actor and audience are complicit in the suspension of disbelief with no one party seeking an advantage over the other.
Behaviour: The behavior is realistic and truthful to the context of the role and story.
🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭
***Pretending***
Intent: Pretending involves imaginative play or adopting roles for enjoyment
Context: Typically occurs in casual, recreational, or creative settings where individuals consciously engage in make-believe.
Relational Dynamics: The actor and audience are complicit in the suspension of disbelief with no one party seeking an advantage over the other.
Behaviour: The behavior is usually over the top and unbelievable.
🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭
***Lying***
Intent: Lying involves intentionally deceiving or misleading others, usually for personal gain or to conceal the truth.
Context: It often occurs in real-life situations, outside the realm of performance or play.
Relational Dynamics: The actor and audience are not complicit. One party seeks to have a clear advantage over the other.
Behavior: The behavior is realistic and truthful to the context with the intent at the forefront.
In short acting is rooted truth, presence authenticity for the benefit of the greater and common good.

It's a bit weird seeing my face on someone else's graphics.
And here's the thing...it does feel weird at first when you put yourself out there, tugging on the tight grips of your comfort zone. But that's exactly where the magic happens – in that space where discomfort meets opportunity.
A bit like leadership. The journey through our comfort zone begins with self-discovery. As we dive deeper into what truly makes us individually successful, we uncover aspects of our leadership style that may have been overshadowed by conventional norms and the expectations that have been conditioned in us.
I recently had the pleasure of joining the wonderful and very talented Emma-Louise Parkes on her podcast 'The Ambitious Introvert' to talk about our Inner Brilliance (I love the name of this podcast and the conversations related to this topic).

Support yourself as much as you support everyone else!!! A powerful lesson taught to me by my friend and self-compassion leader and expert, Massimo Backus, MA, CPCC, ACC. Few people can talk me into publically sharing my fears. In minutes Massimo was able to take me through a brief and astoundingly effective exercise in how to give myself compassion so I could move past the self-doubt and anxiety to power through analysis paralysis. A session I will never forget. Worth a listen to learn the secret to letting go of angst to propel yourself forward!

Ask yourself: what action can I take to support someone who is struggling?
That’s the difference between empathy and compassion. Empathy is the understanding of someone else’s feelings while compassion is the desire to take action to support them through it. They go hand in hand when it comes to good leadership, with empathy being just the first step.
Many clients come to me and are very focused on themselves or caught up in their own stress, and in turn, they struggle to know how to effectively help their team through difficult situations.
Is this something you feel you need to improve on? Would you like to find new ways to support your team effectively? I’m here to help! DM me to book a complimentary consultation.

Hello, inspiring leaders! 🌟
Here's a truth we need to embrace – just because your phone is available 24/7 doesn't mean you should be. Allowing others' needs, desires, and priorities to run your life is a recipe for burnout.
Your time is invaluable, and setting boundaries is essential for maintaining your energy and focus. In this week's episode of The Ambitious, Awakened & Aligned Podcast, I discuss how taking control of your time can lead to greater balance and fulfillment. When you prioritize your own needs and goals, the possibilities are endless.

Saying "Yes, AND" Changed My Boundary Game
I'm always looking for ways to improve my communication, especially when it comes to setting boundaries. A few years ago, I stumbled upon the power of saying "Yes, AND" instead of just "no." Let me tell you, it's a game-changer!
It allows you to acknowledge someone's request or concern while still holding your ground. You can say "Yes, I understand your frustration, AND I need some time to [insert solution]." It's firm, but also empathetic, which empowers a much healthier conversation.
Speaking of healthy conversations, let's have one! What are your thoughts on the "Yes, AND" approach? Have you tried it? Share your experiences in the comments!
