Happy #CanadaDay! Thankful for the opportunities that Canada gave my family to live in a free and democratic society when they arrived in the 1950s to Montreal. Was reminded and am in awe of the sacrifices that Canadian soldiers made to protect those freedoms during my visit to the Normandy beaches and cemeteries 2 weeks ago. Thank you Canada!🇨🇦

Here is my personal out of the box option/scenario to prevent further suffering. Since a ceasefire does not seem to happen. Open the Israeli border and let the forcibly displaced Gazan civilians evacuate to Israel and set up a temporary UN controlled refugee camp there. This instead of escalating the conflict by trying to push people into Egypt.... (to evacuate people to the North of Gaza is currently absolutely no realistic option, there is nothing left and it is much more difficult to supply humanitarian aid to a war zone). Israel is actually a very safe zone without any tunnels and/or terrorists to destroy.... It also would result in a clear guarantee that Gazans can return home in the end, after the area becomes inhabitable again, (NRC estimated in December that this will take 7-10 years)..... Gaza belongs to Canaan..... people will have to learn to coexist.... as it looks to me, there is either place for all or for none.... www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo

Today marks a significant milestone for my beloved homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has been exactly 32 years since we proudly became a member of the United Nations! 🇧🇦 🇺🇳 On this day, 32 years ago, the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was raised high in front of the United Nations building by the East River, alongside the flags of Croatia and Slovenia. This moment signified our commitment to peace, international cooperation, and the shared values of the global community. Following our admission to the UN, our nation faced the difficult years of war, the traces of which are still visible today. Despite these challenges, our resilience and unity continue to drive us forward. We face the future with optimism, striving to build a society rooted in peace, coexistence, and mutual respect. Bosnia and Herzegovina stands for peace, living together, and the enduring spirit of hope. Let's continue to work together for a brighter future, not just for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but for all nations striving for peace and prosperity. #BosniaAndHerzegovina #UNAnniversary #PeaceAndUnity

On February 15, 1965, the National Flag of Canada flew over Parliament Hill for the very first time. That same day, CSE (or CBNRC, as we were known at the time) followed suit with their own flag-raising ceremony. Everyone gathered outside to witness this historic event as Edward Drake, CSE’s first Chief, lowered the Red Ensign for the last time. The old flag held a special place in the hearts of many CSE employees, some of whom, like Drake himself, had served under it during the Second World War. And yet, it was a celebratory occasion as the brand-new Canadian Flag was raised and unfurled for the first time at Canada’s national foreign signals intelligence agency. The creation of a Canadian Flag, much like the creation of the CSE as an independent intelligence organization only twenty years prior, represented another major turning point towards Canada emerging as a mature nation on the world stage. In an internal publication at the time, a CSE employee wrote: “The birth of our flag at least represents the initial phase of a solution which is designed to see Canada emerge as a mature nation. Aside from Canada’s contribution to World Wars I & II, the flag alone is of our making, the manifestation of which represents the birth of a new era – for this we should be proud and strive with vigour towards a complete independence and a unified nation.” #FlagDay #Canada #CSE

After being colonised by France, many former French colonies are still subject to several rules and regulations that can be seen as oppressive. For example, they are required to pay for the infrastructure that France built during colonisation, and they must keep 50% of their foreign reserves in the French treasury. This arrangement applies to 14 African countries and has existed for years. These countries are only allowed to access 15% of their reserves each year, and if they need more than that, they must borrow it. Additionally, France has dibs when purchasing any natural resources discovered in these countries. Joint military training must be done in France, and the French government can bid on government contracts. France also has the right to deploy its military to these African countries and make French the official language in education and communication. Ex-colonies are required to send a reserve report to France using the French colonial currency, and they cannot enter into military alliances with other countries without France's approval. Finally, during a global military conflict, ex-colonies are required to join forces with France. The boot is heavy on their necks. May we never forget. https://lnkd.in/dvR4cSMg

#caribbean #colonialism #countries The Caribbean The regions of Middle America and South America, including the Caribbean, follow similar colonial patterns of invasion, dominance, and development by outside European powers. The Caribbean Basin is often divided into the Greater Antilles and the Lesser Antilles (the bigger islands and the smaller islands, respectively). The Greater Antilles includes the four large islands of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. The Lesser Antilles are in the eastern and southern region. The Bahamas are technically in the Atlantic Ocean, not in the Caribbean Sea, but they are usually associated with the Caribbean region and are often affiliated with the Lesser Antilles. The four main colonial powers in the Caribbean were the Spanish, English, Dutch, and French. Other countries that held possession of various islands at different times were Portugal, Sweden, and Denmark. The United States became a colonial power when they gained Cuba and Puerto Rico as a result of the Spanish-American War. The US Virgin Islands were purchased from Denmark in 1918. Sweden controlled the island of St. Barthelemy from 1784 to 1878 before trading it back to the French, who had been the original colonizer. Portugal originally colonized Barbados before abandoning it to the British

On this day (05/03/2024), 200 years ago, Britain declared war on the Burmese empire (also known as the Konbaung Dynasty). The first in a series of three conflicts, the wars—largely driven by the East India Company’s desire to expand its commercial interests—would result in Burma being subsumed as a province of British India in 1886. This effectively marked the beginning of British colonial rule in Burma which lasted until 1948. The First Anglo-Burmese War (1824–1826) occurred following extended border disputes between Burma and British India. Relations between the two sides had been deteriorating for over two decades. The British had claimed Assam and Manipur in northeast India as protectorates and they objected to Burmese military expansion in these regions. Meanwhile, Burma was becoming increasingly frustrated at British Bengal’s expanding sphere of influence. A good deal of friction had also emerged in the territory between Arakan in western Burma and the British-held Chittagong to the north. After Burmese forces occupied Shapuree island near Chittagong, land that was claimed by the British East India Company, the British despatched troops to eject the Burmese, leading to several skirmishes in the Bengali region. War was officially declared on 5 March 1824, when British forces, financed by the East India Company and under the command of Major General Sir Archibald Campbell, launched a military expedition into Burma. While the British had obvious reasons to secure the northeastern frontier of India—consolidating their ever-expanding colonial control of the region—crucially, the war also provided the East India Company with the opportunity to open new markets for British manufacturing, as well as to secure lucrative local resources, such as teak and rubber. Additionally, the British wanted to counter French influence in the region which had been growing since the eighteenth century. It’s very disturbing trend as peace and discipline are maintained by rules and for enforcement of rule or order force is needed. In popular democracy trends are that, we are getting ruled by majority which is illiterate and short sighted. No one want to do hard work. Cheap labour is sought every where. On top of that political forces want to keep it that way and few in power want to enjoy. Now in this era of information technology we should raise our voice against popularisum and false propaganda by commercial lobbies.
This is Justin Trudeau, Jagmeet Singh and those that voted for them’s fault. The majority of Canadians have never voted for Trudeau. He has never won a popular vote. It has always been rigged via seat allocations, political inference and immigration. The NDP is not a separate party as we have seen. These creeps have tarnished our name, our brand and bankrupted our military and citizens. They need to go and we need to focus on rebuilding Canada quickly. Hopefully with some of their ill gotten proceeds. Never has a unwanton government and leaders caused so much damage in the history of Canada. Deliberately underfund the military and the police. Legalize the use of illicit drugs. Tax your citizens and businesses into poverty. Cause Canadian division via gender, race, sexual orientation, colour and religion. Simply a Canadian horror story and you two, Trudeau and Singh are the monsters. https://lnkd.in/gj-fhUpA
