The memories are endless and only matched by the lessons learned. My teams in Lubbock, Amarillo and Clovis are the reason to celebrate these 4 years. You guys make the communities you serve even better. You provide care for so many beautiful souls. To celebrate these four years. Here are some lessons learned: 1. Most hard decisions are made easier when wearing adorable slippers. My favorite office nickname to date is slippers. 2- When encountering an intense situation don’t handle it in isolation. My team has great ideas, I just have to be intentional at asking good questions. If you feel like you are over-communicating. You are probably just now communicating enough. 3- Plan for fun and always have a pulse on your energy as a leader. I can be intense and I know that about myself so I schedule fun with my team. That looks different everyday and from team to team but that is really where I get to learn about them and they are the most important thing. 4- Protect the culture. It is the foundation of who we are and how we thrive. Here’s to the next year! The best is to come!

What's one thing that surprised you about working at FACS? The breadth of knowledge our impressive line-up of staff has (field staff/experts AND operational staff). Not only does this ultimately benefit our clients, but it allows me (and all employees) to constantly have the opportunity to learn something new. What is one thing we don't know about you (non-work-related)? I have a KILLER jump shot. (And really any shot inside of the 3-point line.) Come to think of it...I think we should start an annual FACS shooting contest! What is one thing that you geek out about? Anything related to dogs, but especially my dogs, Cheddar & Jelly (part golden retrievers, part sweet princesses). Favorite quote? Anything from Curb Your Enthusiasm. "Prett-ay, Prett-ay, Prett-ay Good." What is your favorite TV show of all time? Fleabag. If you haven't seen it, stop what you're doing right this second and watch it. Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to? Prague, Czech Republic. It's absolutely beautiful, full of history, and cheaper than Paris! If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you want to move? Maybe somewhere beautiful like the Swiss Alps during the summertime, and during the wintertime, somewhere warm like St. Thomas. What word or phrase do you tend to overuse? "Yes." I'm a recovering people pleaser, actively trying to get better at spreading myself too thin. It also doesn't help that I have a strong case of FOMO with nearly everything (professional and personal!).

April 18, 2024 A day that lives rent free in the hearts and minds of millions… My dear friend Tony (Named Man) Militello reminded me that yesterday was officially National High Five ✋🏾 Day. National High Five Day is a reminder that every little success in life deserves a bit of celebration, and the high five serves as a universal form of just that - celebration. Here are five fun facts everyone should know about the High Five: 1. The origin story of the high five is up for debate, but most sophisticated scholars (I’ll self select into this category if I may) believe it originated on October 2, 1977 in downtown Los Angeles 2. Research indicates that sports teams who give the most high fives have increased performance and win a significantly higher percentage of games 3. Cats that are trained to give high fives are more adoptable (but we all know that the most adoptable cats are those who act like dogs (so we’re clear) 4. The high five is officially a universal gesture. People on every continent are doing it. In fact, one gentleman, Craig Lewis actually quit his job to high five the world. He traveled to 36 countries, high fiving his way through them all 👋🏽 5. The path to a perfect high five (thank you Keith Mercurio) is to look at the other person’s elbow So, if you’re having an excellent week… A few well executed high fives today will make it even better. If you’re having an average week… A few energy generating high fives will help you (and others) close the week on a high note. And if you’ve had “one of those weeks.” So has someone else. They might just need a high five (and a hug) as much as anything today. The brilliance of the high five, like so many other things. Is that the getting is in the giving. So give away. Because someone else might need a little celebrating, a bit of encouragement more than you know. Shoutout Stacie Clark for celebrating and encouraging so many others daily 👊🏽

I know 70.3 is a light snack for some of you ultra-crazies out there. This is my kit for the ride this weekend. I’m a week early for Memorial Day. But the day itself isn’t something I celebrate. Some treat it like the official summer kickoff…or 4th of July Jr. I do it differently. I remember every day. It’s not just the heroes I rode with. I remember the sounds of their families crying uncontrollably during memorial services. And while taps played. 🫡🇺🇸🪖🥾❤️ I don’t know if the life I’m living is worthy of the sacrifices they made. But I can tell you after working from one professional crisis to the next…for multiple corporate masters… Nothing compares to what they gave. <<< Not even close >>> Similarly, nothing compares to the sense of grief or burden. It’s not that I lack empathy. Quite the opposite. I recognize the brewing inner storms of others, and the pitfalls of tactical reactions versus empirically informed strategy. Stacking the challenges means that within the crisis of today and tomorrow, I draw upon the lessons from the wins and losses. …especially the losses, and who was there. All to say, if we’re coworkers, whatever challenge we face isn’t the first crisis, nor will it be the last. No matter how unprecedented. And even through the difficult emotions, it’s important to stay grounded in truth. ➕the Facts that underpin that truth. ➕the history of the individuals and teams that lived it < If you wish to tell stories, remember the focus on the truth > Celebrate the positive. Maddie and I get to host Thanksgiving at our home in Cincinnati this year and my dad (Gregg Bell) will be staying with us. When I think about the things I'm most thankful for in life, one of them is having a father who modeled what it looks like to both work hard and also be present with his kids. Here are some of my favorite phrases he passed down to us... *"Do it right, do it light. Do it wrong, do it all day long."* Cannot count the number of times I heard this at a wrestling practice growing up. 😅 It still rings true though. Taking the time to do things right might feel like a cost hit up front, but rushing through and doing them wrong just leads to wasted time. *"You look good, you feel good. You feel good, you play hard. You play hard, you win."* When we were kids this was superficially more about having a cool looking jersey. As an adult though, it's become less about clothes and more about just taking the time to exercise and stay healthy. My most productive seasons are the ones where I'm both working hard in the office and in the gym. *Work to live. Don't live to work.* Admittedly, I love to work. Building Scheduler with my best friend every day is a joy. But work (at least as a parent) should be primarily about enabling life for your family. Obviously everyone has their own opinion about what exactly that looks like, and it can vary by season, but I find this phrase to be a helpful reminder of what really matters when things start to get out of sync. Any phrases your parents passed down that you're thankful for?

This is a great story about how the simple holding open of a door can change someone’s life. It’s also a good reminder about not being self-important. A former member of the management team at a place I worked at was notorious for not holding the door open for teammates. Every day this person was so self-absorbed, and by extension show how self-important they were, by charging into the office without concern for teammates. I am talking about pre-opening when the doors are locked, not when the doors are open for business, although holding the door then is a nice gesture. This manager disrespected the team they were supposed to be leading every day, by not holding open a door. It’s like the adage that you judge a potential mate by the way they treat service people (waitstaff, bartenders, etc.). Imagine how the team felt about this manager, because they never held open a door in the morning. Now, that’s not to say that if you need to wait two to three minutes for the rest of your team to follow you in and wait for them. But when someone is a few steps behind you take the few seconds to let them in with you. It only costs you a little time, but will gain you days of goodwill with your team, and probably respect as well. https://lnkd.in/gi6ikpPr
